TOTAL PROJECT SOLUTION = HIGH IMPACT PORTFOLIO
dtb! executed a complete project management solution to deliver the 2007/08 publications
portfolio. Working closely with all industry/member stakeholders, dtb! created an all-encompassing
publications strategy aimed specifi cally at increasing tourism visitation and yield.
After implementing the strategy that included advertising sales, design, copywriting, print and
distribution, dtb! was awarded a 5-year contract to deliver 2008/2009, 2009/2010, 2010/2011 and
2011/2012 publications portfolio which includes more than 20 publications in fi ve language versions.
In a step toward becoming an Australian and international leader in destination marketing
publications, from June to August 2010, Gold Coast Tourism executed its fi rst publication research
campaign in a working partnership with dtb!. The overriding goal of the research program was to
ensure the brochures would not only meet consumer needs in the current market but also pre-empt
future trends and satisfy readers’ changing expectations, achieving this with an increased return on
investment (ROI).
The research program delivered close to 400 surveys with dtb! performing face-to-face interviews
across the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as well as electronic
surveys to capture input from several international offi ces. Research fi ndings will have an undeniable
impact on the future success of the Gold Coast Tourism brochures. A research-based portfolio
of publications will actively meet the needs of readers, increasing use of the portfolio, driving
consumer activity, integrating print and online channels and ultimately improving visitor numbers
and expenditure.

dtb!’s partnership with the Sunshine Coast Council began in 2005 with the development of the discovermaroochy branding - ‘The heart of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast’. Most recently dtb! has worked on the following initiatives, aiming to drive economic development, encourage business infrastructure, and increase tourism visitation and yield.
Needs based website born from stakeholder research
discovermaroochy.com.au – dtb! executed the most comprehensive stakeholder research campaign involving both consumer surveys and industry stakeholder workshops across the Sunshine Coast region. Research fi ndings were then used to develop and implement a detailed strategy, delivering an outstanding website that meets the needs of industry stakeholders and consumers alike.
Award winning submissions
National Economic Development Awards – dtb! designed and wrote three successful submissions for the 2007 awards in the categories of Publications, Internet and Overall Destination Marketing.
Research and consultation based strategy now in action
Natural Advantage – dtb! partnered Council to develop a campaign promoting the Sunshine Coast as a premium location for entrepreneurial and export-focused businesses that would benefi t from the region’s unique natural assets and extraordinary potential. Key government, council
and industry leaders across the consulted ane enrolled to attract smart and innovative investors to the region. From its launch on November 17, 2009 which was supported by a comprehensive collateral suite including: Business Case; Marketing Plan; Marketing Brochure; 8-minute / 2-Minute DVD’s and media releases, the program continues to gain momentum. Case studies and interviews with numerous businesses across the Sunshine Coast are currently underway which will form part of an ongoing marketing and communications strategy.
Project management that unites for impact
Sippy Downs Business and Technology Sub-Precinct – this collaboration between Sunshine Coast Regional Council, the University of the Sunshine Coast and Property Developers: Investa Property Group, Aria Property and S&L Developments aims to create a new sub-precinct that will provide enough commercial and residential infrastructure to accommodate 15,000 people over the next 10 years. dtb! partnered these key stakeholders to unite needs and expectations into a unifying brand identity, ultimately creating a Marketing and Communications Strategy that will launch the Sippy Downs Business and Technology Sub-Precinct to the public. After intensive stakeholders workshops and research into knowledge-based precincts nationally and globally, dtb! is currently in the fi nal stages of creating a brand identity. The Marketing and Communications Strategy will include a complete suite of printed and electronic marketing material in addition to a Public Relations campaign.
Stakeholder workshops that make discoveries
Connecting the Coast - project is facilitating connectivity to high speed broadband by connecting government, business, educational institutions, health-care providers and the community together to secure over $11m in funding for much-needed broadband infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast.
dtb! provided research from community stakeholders to support start-up ventures, and attract new businesses to the region with world-class wireless and fi bre solutions that will Connect the Coast. Underway are various and extensive community initiatives.
Collateral that informs and infl uences opinion
Formerly the Caloundra Shire Council – produced the region’s Local Growth Management Strategy collateral that included the development of television commercials and a fi ve minute DVD to educate and inform the community of the planned growth and infrastructure for the Caloundra region through to 2015.
Publications that drive economic growth
Economic Development Strategy – dtb! delivered the complete design, layout and production of this strategic draft plan following numerous stakeholder consultations in a very short turnaround time. The strategy document aimed to increase community awareness and ownership through consultation, ultimately driving regional economic growth across the region.

To receive an ISO 9001 certifi cation a company

1. Knowing the subject and
understanding the audience
Our design team begins every design project
by immersing itself in the subject matter. With
a complete understanding of the information to
be delivered, the goal and competitor activity,
the team is ready to deliver truly unique design
that both captures the audience’s attention and
meets your goals.
2. Conceptualisation
dtb! routinely challenges our clients’ thinking,
creating design briefs for every individual job.
We work closely with key stakeholders to refi ne
the brief until all parties are satisfi ed.
While each member of your dedicated dtb!
team will participate in this process we will
provide one single point of contact, ensuring
communication is effective and consistent.
3. Draft Delivery
During the creation of design and text
drafts, the fi ling of all fi les and information is
meticulously standardised to ensure storage
and search effi ciency. All images are tagged
with metadata and numerous versions or drafts
retained.
The delivery of a combination of draft designs
and text is essential to visualising the end
product and ensuring all elements of the brief
and overall goals will be met. We value feedback
and work closely with clients to ensure they
benefi t from the team’s combined experience to
deliver maximum impact marketing.
We discuss your feedback in depth to ensure
our understanding of amendments is clear. We
then ensure the end product is delivered exactly
to our agreed specifi cations.
4. Copywriting and Editing
A punchy heading can pull a reader in. Targeted
writing can change opinion. Great copywriting
inspires action. dtb!’s copywriting and editing
expertise will allow you to communicate with
their diverse audiences in a way that gets
results.
Years of training and experience has seen dtb!’s
copywriting professionals add credibility and
impact to a diverse range of written material.
From press advertisements that get noticed and
website copy that gets found by readers and
search engines alike, to media releases that get
published and reports that bring key fi ndings
into the spotlight – we get it and get on with it.

5. Objective Proofi ng
One spelling error can strip the most inspired
marketing collateral of credibility. While
continuous checks are performed by both Joan
and Michael throughout the course of each
project, all work is passed through a four stage
check process before fi nal production.
All design projects are double checked by a
second designer who is objective to the project,
while all text is proofed by the nominated
Account Manager. Only if material passes pre-
existing checklists, including strict adherence to
your brand and style guidelines can it be passed
through for a fi nal check.
Finally, a print proof is generated for each
project. The proof is checked and signed by
both the Account Manager and your nominated
representative before fi nal production.
6. Print Production Management
The dtb! team works hard to maintain an
invaluable knowledge of cutting edge printing
technology and techniques while cultivating
strong working relationships with top quality
professional printers. Our knowledge allows
us to recommend the best possible print
solutions – from paper stock and ink choices to
print processes. Our relationships allow us to
meet challenging deadlines while maintaining
premium quality output. We monitor print
performance every step of the way.
7. Reporting and Records
We recommend conducting weekly Work
In Progress (WIP) meetings to ensure key
deliverables are being met in a timely fashion.
Your dtb! Account Manager will assign project
tasks and monitor progress throughout the
week, generating a formal written report. The
report is then emailed you prior to our meeting
for review. Any concerns are discussed during
the meeting ensuring project goals are met and
plans can be adapted to new circumstances.
8. Summary
The creation of a strategic, research-based
plan identifi es the optimum mix of advertising
for the most cost effective investment. Let us
analyse the sea of advertising options, creating
a custom made plan that delivers your message
to your target market without experimenting
with your valuable advertising dollars.

RE Brand Architecture – Redesign Brief
Hi , Firstly, thank you very much for getting in touch with dtb! Advertising and allowing us the opportunity to present our Business Proposal for your rebranding and redesign work. Receiving your brief on the Brand Architecture Redesign was exciting, with clearly a significant amount of thought and research undertaken to prepare this comprehensive document. Your passion for your business was evident as outlined in your business objectives. dtb! have a mutual interest with you through our involvement with the Tour de Kawana (TDK) Cystic Fibrosis Charity Cycle event, as we have designed all event collateral for a number of years.
This is clearly an exciting time for your business. To enable you to clearly and easily evaluate our proposal we have provided our response under four main headings that are detailed below, namely: Our Understanding; Why dtb!; Your Investment and Our Commitment each of which we believe will allow you to clearly and easily evaluate our submission.
1. OUR UNDERSTANDING
Following a review of your brief and website, we understand that you were initially established in 2001, however has undergone a change in ownership in July 2008. Currently the existing logo and branding does not represent who or what your business is going forward. You feel that the existing design shape and colour is commonplace, especially as the use of colours amongst the competitive set is almost standard practise.
Consumer Research has identified the your Brand Platform and tagline, “Think Fast. Think Faster …”. The brand platform is reflective of how you ‘do business’ - fast, innovative, high tech, quality seamless – is your experience. However with the absence of a clear link between the visual representation of the brand these words are perhaps perceived as just another tagline.
The future for your business is exciting with a clear Vision, Mission Statement, Goal and Objectives in place. Growth targets of 20% per annum will provide tangible goals for the entire team.
Your current branding, positioning, marketing and promotional materials are not seen as effectively supporting your needs moving forward and hence a rebranding exercise will be undertaken, including:
Stakeholders’ workshop New logo name to express who you are and will be in the future Redesign new logo and tagline Establish logo design templates for the style guide for the following elements:
o Business Signs o Stationery o Business Cards o Email Marketing o Trade Advertising o Web Site

Commitment to environmentally sustainable
practices
dtb! is committed to creating a sustainable working
environment.
The dtb! team employs waste reduction measures
throughout everyday offi ce procedures. These
include:
Recycling paper, cardboard, glass and plastic
bottles
Recycling ink cartridges
Re-using design equipment i.e. presentation
boards
Encouraging staff to read documents
electronically to reduce print waste, while any
hard copy documents are printed once and
passed on as a communal copy
Use of environmentally friendly offi ce and
cleaning supplies where possible.
Our environmental awareness also extends to
recommending our clients use environmentally
friendly print products and processes. We routinely
recommend the use of recycled and/or sustainable
paper products. We also educate clients on the
impact waterless printing and ‘chain of custody’
forestrys can have on both the environment and
the quality of their publication.
dtb! works with a network of accredited printers
that offer innovative waterless and ‘chain of
custody’ printing solutions. An offset printing
process that eliminates the traditional use of a
water dampening system, waterless printing has
the following environmental benefi ts:
Up to 10% reduction in paper waste
Total elimination of contaminated water waste
Waterless Printing also allows for the use of
alternative, more environmentally friendly inks such
as vegetable or soy-based inks that are free of
petroleum distillate.
We inform our clients that waterless printing not
only saves water and reduces waste but can also
deliver better quality prints by:
Allowing for the use of a greater variety of paper
Improved registration
Increased clarity
Bolder and more consistent colours
This advanced and environmentally responsible
solution was utilised in the production of
publications for the Noosa Bioshpere, Gold Coast
Tourism Publications, Sunshine Coast Regional
Council, Tourism Noosa and all Northern Network
Alliance print solutions.
dtb! Advertising participated in the Queensland
Government Department of Environment and
Resource Management’s signature partnership
ecoBiz program which assists businesses identify
