Scope of Survey This Marine Survey is an objective report on the condition and value of the vessel listed above paying close attention to the structure, safety and installed systems. Appearance issues are addressed only when they affect the overall value of the vessel. This report is unbiased and subject to the condition and accessibility of the vessel at the time of the survey. Test methods used are of a non-destructive nature and vessel disassembly is not within the scope of these inspections. A complete evaluation of the vessel would require disassembly and will not be undertaken in the formulation of this report. Hulls, decks and superstructures are inspected visually for condition and appearance. Where possible moisture levels are measured by electronic detection methods with percussive sounding being used to verify laminate voids and possible structural weakening. It should be noted that electronic moisture readings are relative numbers, which may be affected by many factors other than moisture making evaluations subjective at best.

Electrical and electronic systems are tested by powering up when power is available and if not visual inspections only are performed. Engines, Drives, Mechanical and Plumbing systems are inspected visually for leaks, flaws or other defects and wear evaluations are based on visual inspections only and reported life of the components.

Interior joinery and fixtures are inspected visually for appearance, condition and for structural soundness.

All electronic moisture testing in this vessel was performed with an Electrophysics Digital Capacitance Moisture Meter calibrated to a dry test plate on the .5 scale. Relative moisture readings are interpreted as low (<15), slightly elevated (16 – 25), elevated (26 – 30), high (>31).

The surveyor will endeavor to apply Transport Canada TP1332 standards where applicable. If suitable standards do not exist then ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) standards will be used. Please note that at this time TP1332 standards are in the process of being harmonized with the current ABYC standards. Vessels manufactured prior to standard implementation are not required by law to comply but compliance is recommended where practical.

The surveyor has taken neither weight calculations nor made size measurements. All vessel data is taken from published information. The Surveyor reserves the right to use this report (with all vessel and client specific information deleted) as a sample of his work unless otherwise informed in writing. Acceptance of this report constitutes agreement to all statements and limitations contained herein. This Survey is an opinion of the surveyor on the condition of the vessel as presented and within the parameters outlined above The recommendations and comments made are based on the surveyors knowledge and experience. This report is in no way a guarantee of the vessel's condition or performance either now or in the future.

Survey Conditions Vessel was inspected while both float and hauled-out. The hull exterior wetted surface and underwater machinery and hardware were inspected. Due to paneling, liner, tanks, and installed equipment, only about 30 percent of the hull interior surface could be observed. The specific materials and lay-up schedule for the fiberglass moldings could not be determined with the non-destructive techniques available for inspection. An informal underway trial was conducted. Machinery and equipment were not inspected while operating except where specifically noted below. Battery and shore power were available for system and component testing. Fresh water systems and sanitation were winterized. Locked compartments or otherwise inaccessible areas were not inspected. This vessel was surveyed without removals of any parts, including fittings, glued or tacked carpet or liner materials,

screwed boards or panels, anchors and chain, fixed partitions, instruments, clothing, spare parts and miscellaneous materials in the bilges and lockers, or other fixed or semi-fixed items. No determination of stability characteristics or inherent structural integrity has been made and no opinion is expressed thereto. This survey report represents the condition of the vessel on the dates specified above, and is the unbiased opinion of the undersigned, but is not to be considered an inventory or a warranty, either specified or implied.

Description of Vessel

The Defrever 45 Pilothouse is a powered pilothouse trawler style vessel featuring FRP (fiberglass re-enforced plastic) construction of the hull, deck and cabin superstructure with a pilothouse, flying bridge single cabin layout.

The cabin layout (from forward) features a forward stateroom, main salon with seating and a table, galley, fully enclosed head area and a double berth. A pilothouse with helm station is featured.

A flying bridge with 2nd helm station upper and lower aft decks are included in the vessel exterior layout.

The vessel hull is finished in white gel coat with blue accents. The decks and cabin superstructure are also finished in white gel coat with anti-skid finish in the appropriate areas.

Hull Construction and Re-Enforcement

Construction and Re-enforcement: The hull is FRP constructed and appears to be a one-piece shell with a lower structural grid of tabbed in transverse bulkheads and FRP encapsulated longitudinal stringers forming the hull structure.

Note: Fiberglass re-enforced plastic (FRP) encapsulated wooden structural components utilized in powerboat hulls have, over time shown the potential to deteriorate due to water ingress caused by flaws in the FRP laminate layers, osmosis, leaking transom seals etc. Due to the nature of composite construction resulting in the fact that these components deteriorate from the inside out, early detection of any issues can be very difficult if not impossible. A complete examination of these components would require the taking of core samples and an examination of the removed specimens. This is not within the scope of this inspection.

Below Waterline, Finish and Condition: Multiple coats of an ablative bottom paint and an apparent epoxy barrier coat. All good condition.

Moisture Levels: Low

Soundings: Taken at random with no apparent structural concerns seen at this time.

Topsides, Finish and Condition: Gel coat surface is in good condition relative to the vessel’s age showing only minor scuffs and abrasions.

Hull to Deck Joint: Overlapped and flanged joint shows no evidence of leaks or working of the joint were seen.

Transom: Same as topsides.

Bilge: Areas inspected where accessible are clean and dry.

Swim Platform: An FRP swim platform is attached to the vessel’s transom with stainless steel brackets and through bolts.

Deck and Superstructure

Finish and Condition: Original gel coat surface is in good condition relative to age with an antiskid surface in the horizontal areas. Moisture levels registered were in the low ranges with random percussive soundings of the deck and cabin superstructure all checking sound at this time.

Windows and Deck Hatches: The vessel features opening port lights on the hull sides. Fixed lights are installed on the cabin and pilothouse. All are in serviceable condition with no leaks seen.

Cabin Top Skylights / Hatches: One in apparently serviceable condition with no evidence of leaks seen.

Aft Decks

Description and Condition: The lower aft is of FRP construction and molded integral with the deck and superstructure. The upper aft deck is also of FRP construction and both are in sound order.

Moisture Levels: Low with elevated levels registered at the access hatch.

Soundings: Taken at random and dull in the area noted above.

Scuppers: 2 drains are located at the rear of the deck which drain through flexible hoses into above waterline through hull fittings. All components are in good visual condition and the hoses appear clear.

Flying Bridge

Structure: FRP and molded integral with the deck and cabin superstructure.

Surface Condition: Original gel coat in good condition

Moisture Levels: Low

Soundings: Taken at random with no apparent structural concerns seen at this time.

Windshield: Molded plastic in an aluminum frame. All are in good condition.

Seating and Upholstery: Single bucket seat at helm and bench seating adjacent. Vinyl upholstery is in good condition.

Deck Equipment

Rails, Stanchions, Lifelines: Stainless steel bow pulpit and side rails are installed. All are secure and in good condition. All deck flanges were inspected and found to be secure to the deck and in good visual order.

Hawse Pipe: In foredeck.

Mooring Cleats: 2 forward, 2 amidships and 4 aft mooring cleats are secure to the deck and in good condition.

Bow Stem / Anchor Roller: Stainless steel bow fitting features a single anchor roller which appears secure.

Security: The engine ignition and cabin door are equipped with locking mechanisms.

Canvas and Frames: Canvas bimini covering the flying bridge is supported by a stainless steel frame Is in good condition as is the canvas cover.

Davits: A Brower Systems motorized crane is fitted to the upper aft deck.

Dual station steering in flying bridge and pilot house with hydraulic mechanism to twin rudders.

Sea trial shows the pilothouse steering fully functional but the flying bridge steering with a notchy feel and excessive free play was noted. Fluid check showed low.

Rudder: Twin aluminum rudders are in good visual condition. Shafts and bearings show average play.

Sea Connections

Bronze through hull fittings are in good visual condition and are fitted with operable sea cock style shut off valves. Neoprene and vinyl hoses are fitted and secured with double stainless steel gear clamps.

Engines

Vessel motive power is by a twin John Deer 6.8Liter / 225 horsepower diesel fueled inboard engines. Model 6068TFM50

Exhaust System: Water cooled, cast iron manifolds with integral risers are in apparently good condition showing no external corrosion. Approved neoprene hose is in good condition and double clamped at all

connections. Water lift FRP mufflers are in good condition as well. Back flow protection appears adequate. Exhausts exit at transom.

Engine Mounts: The engine and transmission are mounted to the FRP encapsulated hull re-enforcing stringers with metal brackets and rubber isolators. All are in apparently good condition.

Power Transmission Unit: Conventional drive ZF transmissions with forward neutral and reverse gears are installed and appears to be in good visual condition. All external lines and hoses in good condition with no external leaks seen.

Controls and Gauges: Engine control panels located at helm areas features gauge and warning light instrumentation. Throttle and gearshift located at steering pedestal are free moving and apparently functional.

Cooling System: Closed circuit, heat exchanger cooling with intakes at hull are fitted with strainers, pumps, heat exchangers and discharge to wet exhaust.

The engines were run at the time of the inspection. They both started and ran well both cold and after coming to operational temperature. Sea trial showed max rpm at 2750.

Engine Oil: Clean and levels were good

Engine Coolant: Clean and levels were is good

General: Overall the engine installation was found to be in good order. All lines, cables and hoses are secure and no visible fluid leaks were seen.

Running Gear

Propellers: 3 blade bronze propellers are in good visual condition. They are secured to the prop shafts by double nuts and cotter pins. All are in sound order. Props: 28LH22 / 28RH22 Shafting: 2” dia. stainless steel prop shafts were found to be in good condition and true. Water lubricated shaft bearings in struts are in good condition as is the strut which is secure to the hull. Packing Shaft seals connected to the stern tubes with double clamped re-enforced neoprene hoses which are in good visual condition.

Trim Tabs: 2 hydraulically actuated stainless steel, functional

Galvanic Protection: Installed sacrificial anodes are in good condition and active.

Fuel Tanks and Lines

Type and Number: Two steel fuel tanks are fitted and are secure. Vents are fitted for overboard discharge with outlet screens in place. Accessibility for inspection was limited but appear to be in good condition.

Bonding: Wires in place.

Fuel Tank Shut Off Valve / Anti-siphon Devise: Shut off valves are installed. .

Type and Condition of Fuel Lines / Filters / Fill Hoses: Copper and Type A1 neoprene fuel lines are in good visual condition, no leaks seen. Inline filters / water separators are installed and appear to be in serviceable condition. Type A2 neoprene fill hose is double clamped and in good visual condition

Electrical – Ships Power

Batteries: Four 12VDC and four 6VDC AGM wet cell batteries are installed.

Installation: Secure and are installed in drip proof trays and approved housings. Positive posts on 12 V batteries are insulated and cables are secure but positive posts on 6VDC batteries are not insulated.

Power Distribution: Single panel with individual branch circuits and over current protection by circuit breakers.

Master Switch: Rotary switches are installed.

Conductors: Stranded copper, inspected where accessible and found to be in good visual condition.

Battery Charging: Engine mounted alternators and a 110 VAC Xantrex 40 amp. hard wired marine spec battery charger. Sea trail showed starboard engine alternator charging voltage slightly lower than port.

Electrical - Shore Power

Type and Supply: 115VAC / 50 amp supplied by a marine approved shore power cable and receptacle.

Power Distribution: Single panel with a main circuit breaker, polarity indicator and individual branch circuits with over current protection by circuit breakers.

Conductors: Stranded copper.

Ground Fault Protection: GFCI plugs are installed.

AC / DC Grounding Bond: Yes

On Board Grounded AC/ Neutral: No

Type and Output: Westerbeke 10 KW diesel fueled generator. It is mounted with steel brackets and rubber isolators to the hull reinforcing stringers. Cooling is raw water.

Exhaust: Water cooled into an inline muffler. Type approved exhaust hoses are all double clamped and adequately routed to prevent water backflow.

Fuel Lines: Type A1 neoprene.

The Generator was run at the time of the inspection. No issues seen and in functional condition.

Navigation Aids

Compass: mechanical mounted at both helm stations, functional.

Radar: Furano with display and Big Bay repeater, all powered up and functional

GPS and Chart Plotter: Furano GP37, powered up and functional

Depth Sounder: Furano RD-30 with repeater, powered up and functional

Radio(s): Two Icom ICM504 VHF, powered up and functional

Autopilot: Simrad AP26 with controls at both helm stations, powered up and functional

Interior

Bulkheads and Joinery: Construction is teak and veneered teak plywood. Good condition.

Cabin Sole: Teak and holly plywood. Parquet hardwood

Potable Water: Stainless steel tank. Piping is by PVC and vinyl hoses secured by stainless steel clamps. All were inspected where accessible and found to be in serviceable condition.

Pressure System: 12VDC pump, powered up. Faucets and sinks located in both galley and head.

Hot Water: 115VAC hot water system is fitted with stainless steel tank. Pressure relief installed. Unit appears to be in sound order.

Stove: Princess 3 burner cooktop, powered up. Kenmore 115VAC microwave, powered up.

Refrigeration: 115 VAC / 12 VDC Norcold refrigerator, powered up.

Sanitation

The fully enclosed head area features standing head room with a marine toilet, sink, shower and facet. Systems not tested, winterized.

Toilet: Marine type toilet with a sea water electric flushing mechanism.

Tankage and Hoses: Plastic tank. Piping is by vinyl hoses secured by stainless steel clamps. All were inspected where accessible and found to be in serviceable condition.

Safety Equipment

Personal safety equipment that is not permanently installed on the vessel was neither inspected nor inventoried by the surveyor. A check of the check of the Transport Canada “Small Craft Regulations” should be performed and all necessary equipment fitted to the vessel before launch. This information can be found In the Transport Canada Safe Boating Guide.

Navigation Lights: In place as required and functional at time of inspection. .

Dewatering System: 12VDC pumps with float switches installed in bilge, powered up

Fire Fighting System: Portable hand held fire extinguishers, all fully charged

Carbon Monoxide Detector: Yes incorporated with smoke alarms.
