Drool (dictionary meaning) - To let saliva run from the mouth showing excessive pleasure or anticipation of pleasure.

Drool (what we think it means) - The look on the clients face when they see an idea that’s come out of their mind through us.

Page 3: Drool Design Presentation

Simply put, Drool Design is a place where clients come, they see our work, and the rest we really never need to worry about. Started by two right brained individuals who are extremely talented, awfully young (which reminds us, its time to change their diapers), amazingly creative and bubbling with ideas and, if we may say so, over-enthusiastic individuals, Drool Design is out there (or maybe in their cabins) to give you something that could change things around for you. And yes, we believe in under-promising but over-performing.

THE CLASSIC MALTS SELECTION™

Page 14: Drool Design Presentation

THE CLASSIC MALTS SELECTION™

Once the well-kept secret of Scotland and a handful of aficionados, single malt whisky has progressively transformed into the drink of choice for an emergent number of discerning patrons. The ancient alchemy of air, fire and pure water casting a spell over the distilling process, has ensured the existing varied tastes among the single malts, depending upon where in

Scotland they originate.

The Classic Malts Selection™ represents Scotland’s finest single malt whiskies from its six distilling regions. The pre-eminent malts that form the

single malts portfolio include: Talisker™, Caol Ila™, Cardhu™, Glen Elgin™ , Glen Ord™, Glenkinchie™, Clynelish™.

We at the Wink Mumbai, take great pleasure in inviting you to explore and savour The Classic Malts Selection.™

Page 15: Drool Design Presentation

CLYNELISH™

HistoryWhen you think of the great homes of malt whisky, you probably think first of Spey side and Islay. But other regions play a full part in whisky’s story, and Scot-land’s far northeast, from where Clynelish™ comes, is one. Distilleries here on the stormy sea coast of Sutherland were forever few and far between, yet malt whisky enthusiasts have always championed Clynelish™ over many more famous names.

When the original distillery was built in 1819 by the future Duke of Sutherland, the quality of Clynelish™ whisky was so prized that only private customers were supplied.

You can almost taste the sea air in Clynelish™, with its crisp, medium-bodied, mustard-fresh style. Although there isn’t an Islay’s pungent smokiness here, there is a trace or two of it. Don’t think that this is a heavy malt, though. Its clean taste makes it a fine aperitif – and you can enjoy it just as much later in the evening, such is its versatility.

“The most coastal-tasting mainland whiskies are those from Clynelish™, between Inverness and Wick. They typically have sea weedy, salty and mustard-like aromas and flavours. Mustard-and-cress, perhaps? The 14-year-old is less peaty than some older editions.” Michael Jackson, whisky writer and expert.

Well-rounded, classy single malt with a full gold colour suggesting a significant contribution from the wood.

Nose: Light candle wax, with some sugar. A faint floral fragrance. Wax comes up with water, scented candle wax. Dried flowers on a beach. Later, brown sugar.

Body: Firm, light to medium.Palate: : Pleasant mouthfeel, not as waxy as some expressions, maritime generally.

Finish: Some salt in the aftertaste, dryish, evil slightly bitter finish.

Tasting Notes

Food suggestion: Good as an aperitif. Well worth trying with salmon.Taste style: Smooth. Smooth malts are likely to be more creamy than dry.

30mlPricing (Rs.) 400Prices are exclusive of taxes. We levy no service charge.

CLYNELISH™ 14 YEAR OLD

Over the years, Clynelish™ has continued to be held in high regard by experts. The great Victorian, Professor George Saints-bury, selected it as a favourite and today’s malt whisky gurus consistently praise its unique combination of North Highland and maritime qualities.

INDIAN NAVY

The true origins of the Indian Navy probably lie buried in the hoary depths of antiquity. But its recorded genealogy can be traced back to 1612, when John Company founded the Indian Marine to combat piracy in Kutch. Thereafter it evolved through many stages, like Bombay Marines, Her Majesty’s Indian Marine, Royal Indian Marine, Royal Indian Navy and finally the Prefix Royal was dropped on 26 Jan 1950. On India attaining Independence, the then Royal Indian Navy, consisted of 33 ageing ships, suitable only for coastal patrol, and 11,000 officers & Men. Today the Indian Navy, Sixth largest in the world, has close to 130 ships, of various types, with plans to have 160 ships by 2022, including 3 Aircraft Carriers, 60 Major Combatants including Submarines, & close to 400 Aircrafts of various types. Currently there are 39 Warships on order, not including the 5 to be imported. The personnel strength of Navy today is 55,000 officers & men.

The Indian Navy’s area of operation includes the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean & the Bay of Bengal. These waters include numerous Sea Lanes of Communications (SLOCs), and Chokepoints. Almost 97% of India’s foreign trade by volume, and 60% of the world’s sea-borne trade and energy resources are transported through these strategic bottlenecks.

The Headquarter of the Navy is located at Delhi, from where the Chief of the Naval Staff exercises the operational and administrative control over the Three Commanders-in Chief of the Naval Commands i.e. Western- Mumbai, Eastern-Visakhapatnam, and Southern- Kochi. Also at the Naval Headquarter, the Vice Chief of Naval Staff & the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff assist the CNS for Policy, Plans & Procurement and Operations respectively. The Naval Combatant units are primarily based at Mumbai & Visakhapatnam, as parts of the Western & Eastern Fleets, with Southern Command at Kochi designated as the Training Command. The Air arm of the Navy operates from major Naval Air stations at Goa, Arkonam, Kochi, and Port Blair, in addition to smaller Helicopter bases at Mumbai, & Visakhapatnam. Most of the big Naval Ships also have their integral Helicopters on board. The sub-surface units i.e. Submarines are based at Mumbai & Visakhapatnam. Two Major Naval Dockyards for regular ship repairs & maintenance are also located at Mumbai & Visakhapatnam.

The Indian Navy today operates in all three mediums i.e. Surface, Underwater, & Air, in an effective co-coordinated manner. The two Fleets, with their integral Submarine & Aircrafts, manned by highly trained & dedicated manpower, are a potent arm of the Government of the day for achieving the Maritime Policy of the country.

BUSINESS IN INDIA

PEOPLE AND INDIAN CULTURE

THE INDIAN NAVY DESERVES NO LESS !

As a multiethnic and democratic country, boasting impressive economic growth, India has a clear ambition to play an important role not only as a regional power, but as key player in the international system.

To do so India has been shaping up both its soft power assets - economy, industry, quality of education - as well as its hard power assets, mastering key defense technologies.

Thales is the world leader in Naval electronics (Radars, Sonars, Optronics, Communications, Electronic Warfare, ...) and Integrated Combat Systems. We are focussed on keeping our 50 customer navies around the world satisfied with the best Thales has to offer in Anti-Air Warfare, Surface Warfare, Underwater Warfare and Maritime Safety & Security.

And the Indian navy deserves no less. It is among the 10 largest Navies of the world, operating more than 150 ships, out of which 16 submarines and 50 surface combatants. India plans on introducing around 60 new ships in the next 15 years, including 12 Submarines (out of which 6 Scorpene), 2 Aircraft Carriers, 19 Frigates/Destroyers, 12 Corvettes, 9 ocean patrol vessels, 8 Mine-Hunters and dipping sonars for anti-submarine helicopters. Clearly the opportunities are tremendous for the entire naval business of Thales, since the naval market potential in India is the largest one for a single country.

To achieve this, we can already pride ourselves of a series of successes in India, such as the Scorpene submarine programme together with DCNS, the Karwar class minehunters or the Godavari class frigates. However, we now must successfully deliver these programs to retain our credibility and reputation on future bids.

Last but not least, cooperation is the key success factor to further sustain our growth in the Indian market. We need cooperation both within Thales so as to harness the best available solutions for our customers at a competitive price, but also externally with Indian industry partners, which includes the transfer of key technologies.

As you may know, I have strong reasons to be motivated in contributing to the defense and security of this country and I am personally monitoring the business prospects that the Group pursues in the field of Naval Defense and Maritime Safety and Security.

I trust all of you and your colleagues around the world to successfully win new business!

INDEPENDENCE DAY: 15TH AUGUST

Independence Day is celebrated on August 15 to commemorate its independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation on that day in 1947. The day is a national holiday in India. All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted by the local administration in attendance. The main event takes place in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister hoists the National Flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. In his speech, he highlights the achievements of his government during the past year, raises important issues and gives a call for further development. The Prime Minister also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle.

August 15, Independence Day, is celebrated in a mood of abandon and joy - no rituals, just festivities. It is also a national holiday, with educational institutions, private and government organizations remaining closed, but for official celebrations in the morning.

Though India had no dearth of religious and community festivals, there was, till Independence, no true national festival that the whole country could partake of. Independence Day, beginning as a day to commemorate the greatest moment in Indian history, has now come to signify a feeling of nationalism, solidarity and celebration.

Origins

At New Delhi, in October 2004, a group of prominent Muslim citizens met at a specially convened meeting. The participants were of a representative and inclusive character. They included people drawn from many walks of life, belonging to many different schools of thought and conviction. Leaders of differing political views, celebrated artists and intellectuals, community experts, grassroots activists, members of civil society and workers in the development sector, parliamentarians, educationists and experts of the knowledge industry, promoters of health sciences and education, authors and journalists, industrialists and businessmen, religious leaders, public administrators and management professionals – all agreed on some common issues and needs. A consensus emerged that two steps were required

1to establish channels of communications between the mainstreams of Modern Education

and Madarasa Education and

2to unite the Muslims Educational Institutions in India under a single forum for the purpose of

resolving numerous problems.

Dear Farida,

You have had a stellar career at IFC, making a difference

in people’s lives: clients, governments, young professionals,

experienced managers and veteran bankers. Your mentorship

and living practice of standards has guided and encouraged

us all. You have shown how respect for individuals wins trust

from clients and creates career opportunities regardless of

nationality or gender. IFC in China has benefited from your

leadership and under your stewardship IFC Advisory and

Just as it would have been difficult two decades ago to forecast

the achievements of China today, we are sure you did not

anticipate your own accomplishments or sense of satisfaction

with your career with IFC. Thank you for your friendship with

“[Sub] Urban Texts”

Recent works by

21 July- 3 August 2007

Page 52: Drool Design Presentation

Imartey imagines his location of suburb as a place for junks; the junks, which could

even take the form of virile male animals with erect and throbbing organs. There is

a constant movement in his works like the undulation of landscapes and the criss-

crossing of electricity towers animates the junkyard like a ghosts’ dance floor. There is

a bit of surrealism in Imartey’s imaginations. The animated junks, including the moving

vehicles with a Baconian or Ernst Neizvestnian twist expose their decaying innards,

foretelling the imminent terror. The graphically collapsing type writer, perhaps heralds

the death of a golden age and the hope he retains in the drawing of a kerosene stove. A

restrained critique on the urban visions however, does not diminish the intentionality

of the artist who reflects rather nostalgically on a golden time.

Commuting between the suburbs and the main city of Mumbai through the ‘local’ trains

provide any sensitive soul with visions that even John Milton would have cherished

to have while he wrote ‘Paradise Lost’ and ‘Paradise Regained’. Squeezing the quails

that one experience in these journeys into metaphors of modern age communication

is the strategy that Sudarshan Gupta uses in to create his repertoire of paintings. His

protagonist is a lonely man who has a pronounced aversion towards the ‘busy-ness’ of

the city. Through this detached protagonist, Sudarshan Gupta visualizes the urban and

the suburban as a system of constructions and communications. The sophisticated

renderings of an electric tower with a man finding an interim heaven at its middle,

a brooding man in the middle of a whirlpool of plastic chairs, a man crossing a

construction site, an emblematic representation of several bunches of keys, a playful

rendition of a mirror being taken across a street, which reflects the street itself etc. play

the role of links in Sudarshan’s works.

Sukhjeet works in ceramics. Mostly ceramic artists deal with the formal values of clay

that are more conducive to handle the aspect of growth and decay. Sukhjeet, a devoted

ceramist, however gives thematic expansion to his ceramic works even when he deals

with ‘growth and decay’. Oscillating between existential dilemmas and environmental

concerns, Sukhjeet’s works try to articulate how polished surfaces can reflect deeper

philosophical aspects. Both in the organic formations and in the structural constructions,

Sukhjeet plays with the idea of human communication. His is a world of isolation,

despite the turbulence of happenings around. A work titled ‘Searching’ shows a hand

trying to reach out to a host of hangers and functions as the pivotal work in Sukhjeet’s

ensemble of works.

The experience of (Sub) Urban spaces expressed through the works of these four artists

does not sum up the possibilities of articulating the urban and the suburban. These

works belong to a part of the continuum and they need the viewers’ attention mainly

because they announce the arrival of four new artists who dare re-address one of the

major themes of our times; the theme of sub/urban spaces.
