Thank you to Louise Quirk, Les
Berryman, Barry Callaghan and teachers
for organising the day. It is a big effort to
get all the equipment up to the school
and set up in preparation and then to pull
it down at the end of the day. Thanks to
Rob Commolatti and his band of helpers
for providing tasty food at the event.
Dr Harry Kanasa returned to our school on Monday
from Griffith University to continue our learning about
the teaching of Maths. He presented in 4 different
classrooms and demonstrated a Maths Inquiry
process for teachers to observe. The kids had great
fun as they tried to solve the problem of leaping
frogs. It resulted in great discussion amongst the
students, working in teams, turn taking, and building
their resilience and persistence. At the staff meeting
that afternoon, also, were tested and had to solve
problems using the Singaporean Bar Method.
Grounds:
Work has begun on the new drainage system in the
Year One and Two playground area. This is very
exciting as not only will it prevent the flooding
problems but it will be a nicer area for students. We
will plant new trees where the old ones have been
removed to allow work to begin, and an underground
watering system and turf will be laid.

It was a beautiful, sunny day for our sports

Another Rockhampton Eisteddfod has come and gone. The Cresso community should be very proud of the students who represented the school on the Pilbeam stage. Senior Choir placed 3rd, Cresso Crackers 3rd and Senior Signers were Highly Commended. Another successful year Then Cresso Crackers opened the Taste of the World festival last week and everyone loved them! Special thanks to our Cresso families for giving up their time on a Saturday afternoon.

And now we have the Rocky Show coming up.
Everyone has received their permission slips.
I would really appreciate everyone returning their notes ASAP so that I know who is available. We understand everyone has other commitments but it just helps us for our planning.
Notes / envelopes need to be returned by Monday 11th June
Our Composer of the Month was Ludwig Van
Beethoven. We studied Beethoven’s 5th Symphony:

A Little Bit Quirky
What a busy week this week!
Sports day Monday at RGS was full on. Scores so far are
very close.
Although it was disappointing to see some children did
not bother coming, those who attended had fun and the
little ones always provide some entertainment.
My thanks to the staff who assisted on the day and the
family members who came to cheer the competitors on.
Tuesday the 800m events were on at RGS.
On Thursday we have the field events for those children
born 2009 or earlier. Please remember hats and water
bottles, with NAMES.
I have some lost property from sports day . I will hold it
in my office for a few days until I send it to lost property
so please check in if you are missing something.
Oh, and did I mention it’s State of Origin tonight!!
Training
There is no training this week.
Fun Run
Our annual Fun Run will be held on Friday 29th June, the
last day of term. All children participate and it should be
finished by lunchtime. We will be practising the course
over the next couple of weeks.
Quirky’s Quotes

basket.”
