Free…. Smoke Detectors
for those living in Kankakee Starting January 5, 2016 the Kankakee Firefighters and members of the Red Cross will soon be visiting residents of Kankakee to offer them an opportunity to replace old battery operated smoke alarms with new Kidde i9010 smoke alarms including a 10 year sealed lithium battery. In order to receive smoke alarms, call the Kankakee Fire Department at (815) 936-3629 between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The receptionist will schedule the appointment for Sunday or Monday between 9:00 a.m. and 7: 00 p.m. You should also be aware that in order to receive the free smoke alarms you will be required to have them installed by the Kankakee Firefighters or members of the Red Cross at the time that they are delivered. The process of installing the smoke alarm should only take about 30 minutes. If you need additional assistance or have a question please contact us at (815) 933-0450.
