Assembly Dance.The annual Christmas ball given by

the Assembly Club, always one of themost important, social affairs of theVulctide season, was held in the auditoriumof the Masonic, temple Fridaynight and was one of great beauty andbrilliancy.

Christmas greens and Christmasflowers decorated not only the ballroom but the reception rooms whereguests were grouped at, intermissionbetween dances. Tall stately palms,potted plants and ferns intermingledwith crimson blossoms formed an artistichedge on the stage where theorchestra was stationed and formed a

green were occupied with guests whoenjoyed looking on the gay scene below.Promptly at 0 o'clock Parker's coloredorchestra of Oolumbus, O.; soundedthe keynote for the dance. The

ball room doors were thrown open anda brilliant program of dance music oftwenty numbers was enjoyed by themany guests in attendance, composedof many out of town visitors, the collegeboys and girls home for the holidays,numerous brides of the autumnseason, a number of charming debutanteswho were making their first bowto society, all forming a brilliant scene

O in charming costumes of beauty and^ simplicity.

A delicious salad supper was servedin the dining room at 11 o'clock by an

efficient corps of waiters and laterdancing was resumed in the ball room

until 2 o'clock.The board of governors, Messrs.

T,vnn S. Hornor, president; John M.Newlon, vice president, and Henry C.Alexander, secretary-treasurer, was

untiring in its efforts to make this theChristmas dance quite the most brilliantassembly of the season, and itcertainly succeeded, its efforts were

not in vain. Nearly 300 guests were

have issued cards for a reception forMethodists of the community to beheld at 7:30 o'clock Monday eveningat the First Methodist Episcopalchurch.
