ELLACOMBE Musical Call to Worship (8:15am) UMH 278 Hosanna, Loud Hosanna
Hosanna, loud hosanna, the little children sang, through pillared court
and temple the lovely anthem rang. To Jesus, who had blessed them close
folded to his breast, the children sang their praises, the simplest and the
best.

Litany on Jesus Christ—The Way Bettie Crowell (8:15am)
Max Biery (10:30am) *
When we face a complicated situation that challenges us to see what God
wants us to do, we can remember Jesus saying to his friends,
“I am the Way.” When we find ourselves wondering if we’re really accepted by God, we can
take comfort in remembering the grace embodied in Jesus who said,
“I am the Way.” When we are tempted to believe that we know who’s in and who’s out, we
can remember that Jesus welcomed outsiders and outcasts and said,
“I am the Way.” When we fall into the trap of thinking that faith is about rules, we can
remember the call to relationship found in Jesus’ words,
“I am the Way.” When we wake in the morning and wonder what God asks of us in that day’s
encounters, we can find our model and our answer in the one who said,
“I am the Way.”
Craig Courtney Choral Introit (10:30am) Hosanna
Chancel Choir
Hosanna to the royal son of David’s ancient line! His natures two, his
person one, mysterious and divine. Hosanna we sing to Jesus Christ the
King.
The root of David, here we find, And offspring are the same: Eternity and
time are joined In our Immanuel’s name. Hosanna we sing to Jesus Christ
the King.
Blest he that comes to sinful man With peaceful news from Heav’n!
Hosannas, of the highest strain, To Christ the Lord be giv’n. Hosanna we
sing to Jesus Christ the King.
Let mortals ne’er refuse to take Hosanna on their tongues, Lest rocks and
stones should rise and break their silence into songs. Hosanna we sing to
Jesus Christ the King.
Worship of God by Giving Tithes and Offerings
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.

Prayer of Confession
Congregational Celebrations & Concerns Chuck Starks
(Everyone is invited to come to the altar for prayer during this time.)
Powerful and merciful God, Your grace is sufficient. We confess our sin
and the sin of this world. We have not greeted those around us with your
peace, We have not delivered your promises to the ends of the earth, We
have not purged ourselves of misery and malice; yet, In weakness, you are
made strong; In hardship, you are made faithful; In calamity, you are
made everlasting. Breathe on us, breath of God. Grant us courage to go
where we have refused, Wisdom to speak what we have forgotten, And
tenderness to show mercy to those we have neglected. Restore our lives.
Heal us. Forgive us. Make us your servants—pure in heart, sent in
service and gratitude for your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Sermon Chuck Starks
“I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life”: Knowing God’s Way
Closing Hymn DIADEMATA Christ is the Truth, The Way *
Benediction *
Christ is the Truth, the Way, the Center of our life. Christ shares the
struggles of our day, our earthly joy and strife. Redeeming what is lost, and
healing those in pain, Christ walks the valley of the cross, the Servant’s
glad domain.
Christ is the power of peace, of lasting harmony. In Christ, the wars of
earth shall cease; Christ is our unity. The lion shall lie down in peace
beside the lamb. The mighty shall lay down their crowns before the great “I
Am.”
Christ is the Living Bread, the source of grace outpoured; our deepest
hungers shall be fed; in Christ, life is restored. Earth’s hungry shall
rejoice, for they shall all be filled. The good shall welcome with one voice
the justice God has willed.
Christ is the Living Head, our sole authority. By Christ’s own Spirit we are
led to serve humanity. We follow where Christ leads when others’ pain we
bear; responding to our neighbors’ needs, Christ’s cross and crown we
share.
