• Customer (as always) controls choice of classification taxonomy
• Customer is not forced to use eCl@ss standard
• However, Siemens PLM recommends customers to look at benefits
of using standard to better achieve connected systems
• Both traditional and eCl@ss data can co-exist in the same Teamcenter
instance
• Customer gets a more powerful classification engine (see next slide)
to extend their own taxonomy
• Utilities will be provided (starting in Teamcenter 12.2) to help
customers migrate classification data from old to new engine
• Customer can decide when to migrate based on their business needs
• At least until end of 2022 (when we plan to phase out old
classification engine)
