YOUTH NEWS
I know this confession may stir some hearts but I have never been a big col-lege football fan. I had a pro team I liked but really didn’t keep up with col-lege football at all. That changed as my son grew older. My son loves foot-ball, college, nfl, he loves it all. So, it became apparent to me that I needed to learn about college football too. Why? Because football was a passion for him. So I learned a lot about college football. I’m still can’t go into college football like he does but I still keep up with college football and we still have great discussions about the college football game. I did that because I loved him and I’m not sure he really ever knows that I started getting into college football because of him and he doesn’t really need to know all that. But be-cause I love him, I learned to at least like college football and I still keep up with the college game mainly because of him. I share all that to say, you have an opportunity to express your love this Sun-day. Our youth are having a DiscipleNow Weekend and they are having a youth praise team come and lead worship. They will be leading worship on Sunday morning as well. There will be some hymns and some choruses but it won’t be our normal services and it may be a little out of your preference. But we have a great opportunity to show our love for youth this Sunday but mak-ing a decision ahead of time to “like” what will happen. Why? Because we love our teens and we want to see them grow in Christ and we can model what love looks like to them. I shared with someone last week that I’m not a big bluegrass vocal fan. But we had a bluegrass group come in and lead worship in our last church. I worshipped God that day. Not because I enjoyed the style but because I love my God and I choose to worship Him! I look forward to worship this Sunday as we love God and our youth! Randy
Ayin
121 I have done what is just and right; do not leave me to my oppres-sors. 122 Give your servant a pledge of good; let not the insolent oppress me. 123 My eyes long for your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise. 124 Deal with your servant according to your steadfast love, and teach me your statutes. 125 I am your servant; give me under-standing, that I may know your testimonies! 126 It is time for the Lord to act, for your law has been broken. 127 Therefore I love your command-ments above gold, above fine gold. 128 Therefore I consider all your pre-cepts to be right; I hate every false way.”
One of the problems with modern-day thought, even among some believers, is the idea that parts of the Bible may be true, but other parts are not. Typically, that line of thinking stems from a desire on the behalf of unbelievers to live a lifestyle that isn’t supported by the text of the Bible. However sometimes, even well-intentioned believers, can do the same thing…choosing to believe that some of the Bible is true, and some may not be, depending on how it may affect their personal lifestyle.
Deciding on our own which rules we will follow, and which we will not, based on whether or not we believe that it’s true, is always problematic, and usually ends in personal disaster.
As the psalmist noted in v28, “all of His precepts are right”. With added emphasis.…”ALL of His precepts are right.”
And since ALL of them are right…ALL of them are to obeyed.
Don’t try to decide on your own. Trust that the Bible is true, and that obedi-ence to all of it, will greatly benefit your life.
Love you all, and I will see you Sunday.
