PASTOR’S LETTER
Dear Parishioners, I would like to share with you a recent article I wrote for the Focus on Faith Column for The Wakefield Daily Item.
Today, there are many protests taking place and we hear many slogans being shouted. There is violence on our streets and people coming against each other for holding different opinions and views. There is more than one issue at play here with all this chaos and turmoil as people struggle to be heard. Wouldn’t it make sense to go to God who created us and learn what He would teach as a solution? In scripture, we read – “Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (MT 7:21). Simply put, talk is cheap. I can say all my prayers and read my scriptures, but if I do not live life with a humble heart, my efforts are useless. Actions speak louder than words. I need a change of heart living out the will of God, which means to have a personal relationship with Him and to love my neighbor. Change on the outside comes when there is change within. We hear, “No justice, no peace.” Our faith teaches us that because of sin, our relationship with God was broken. God demanded justice for our disobedience. The only way for justice to be met was for a sinless human to pay the ransom price, which would be death. Jesus was sent by the Father to pay the price. We, in turn, received God’s mercy. Jesus took my place on the cross, and I received God’s mercy. Thus, if I repent of my sin and turn back to God, I am forgiven and restored in relationship with God. I am no longer in debt, and the justice of God has been satisfied. Because of this, I am to show mercy to those who have injured me. Jesus taught us not only to love our neighbors but even our enemies (MT 5:44). He tells us to do unto others as we would have them do unto you (MT 7:12). We are all brothers and sisters. We are not enemies but all striving to live this life trying to be the best version of ourselves. Scripture says that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy (JN 10:10). Isn’t this the sum of the headlines we read and see on the media? What we have is a spiritual battle, and the fingerprint of the evil one is evident in our society. Fortunately, our God has given us the remedy to our social disorder. All of us need to turn away from our sinfulness and turn back to living the commands of the Lord, especially treating one another with love, mercy, and forgiveness. As we have been forgiven, we need to forgive one another. The bible tells us, “Mercy, and truth have met. Righteousness and peace have kissed” (PS 85:10). God is telling us that forgiveness and mercy are the pathways for peace and order
(continued….)

PASTOR’S LETTER (Continued)
Today, we hear “No justice, no peace,” but it does not offer the answer. Something is missing, and God has provided it - Mercy. Scripture says, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (MIC 6:8). God gives us the answer. What we need is to raise our voices in a new slogan, “No justice, no mercy, no peace.”
For your information:
We have met our assessment of the Catholic Appeal. Thank you for your generosity in supporting the different ministries of the Archdiocese.
Hopefully we have installed the new HVAC units for the Church and Hall this past week. The rectory and office were installed a few weeks back. The youth room and chapel are next in line.
This Saturday, we celebrated the First Communion of St. Joseph School’s Second Grade class. During the month of June we completed celebrating the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation with the CCD and St. Joseph School children.
It is good to see that our Sunday attendance is growing. Last weekend we had 891 parishioners here to worship.
Just a reminder, we will have our monthly Healing Mass this Wednesday, July 1, beginning at 7:00 p.m. with the recitation of the rosary. I will be available for confession this week on Saturday, July 4, from 3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. in the chapel or by appointment. May Jesus continue to shepherd you in all of your needs.
God love you,
Fr. Ron and Caleb

Inner Healing can bring relief to our deepest fears, hurts, emotional pain, traumatic memories, tormenting thoughts, and relationship issues.
If you are interested in making an appointment please email Lisa Palmere at

Friday, July 10, 2020 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Join us for a talk on Inner Healing and how it can bring relief to our deepest hurts, emotional pain, traumatic memories, tormenting thoughts, and relationship issues. The night’s focus will be centered on Mother and Father wounds with a special Mother and Father Blessing. There will be time at the end for quiet soaking prayer. Soaking prayer is coming into the presence of the Lord in a posture of receiving allowing him to minister to you directly in body, mind, soul, and spirit. Gentle worship music will be playing in the background. Trained prayer ministers will also be available to pray with you as well in a socially distanced area. Please RSVP for this event as we are limited to 40 % capacity. Ushers will greet you and show you to your socially distanced seat. Masks must be worn inside the church.
Please call 781-245-5770 or email Lisa Palmere with any questions.

FAITH FORMATION
PRAYER Intentions
Your prayers are requested for the deceased of our community especially Lisa Jacquard, William Broding, Mary Shea and all of our parish benefactors, our sick, our military, especially our parishioners who are currently deployed to an active combat area and all those who have asked us to pray for them this week. Their names have been inscribed in our parish Book of Intentions in the Chapel. Please contact the rectory to add a name.
Reflection of the Week
Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around,
Faith looks up.
Jesus and the Bigger Story
A generous friend offered to babysit our kids so my wife and I could go on a date. “You should go somewhere fancy!” she gushed. Being practical people, we decided to go grocery shopping instead. When we returned, grocery bags in arms, our friend asked why we hadn’t done anything special. We told her that what makes a date special isn’t so much what you do, but who you’re with. One of the few books of the Bible that doesn’t record God directly saying or doing anything, the book of Ruth could seem to be pretty ordinary. So some read it as a touching but largely human drama of two people coming together in a relationship. But in truth, something extraordinary is taking place. In the final chapter of Ruth, we read that Ruth and Boaz’s union results in a son named Obed, the grandfather of David (4:17). And as we read in Matthew 1:1, it’s from David’s family that Jesus was born. It’s Jesus who unveils the ordinary story of Ruth and Boaz and reveals the extraordinary story of God’s amazing plans and purposes at work. So often we see our own lives in the same way: as ordinary and serving no special purpose. But when we view our lives through Christ, He gives eternal significance to even the most ordinary situations and relationships.

Could you benefit from Franciscan Spiritual Direction?
Franciscan Spiritual Direction invites all disciples to navigate a uniquely sacred path, guided by the Holy Spirit. We discern “what am I feeling; what am I learning; where is God? Am I growing; will He transform me to His purpose?” The invitation seeks to share the challenges, as well as the joys, of living. There is much to learn from an innocent man who died on a cross, yet never stops loving us. What is happening in your heart and mind? What do you want God to hear, and what is He asking of you? Kate Chandler has a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry and is certified in Franciscan Spiritual Direction. During this time, Kate is available remotely to listen and offer insight into various ways to pray for restoration of joy and peace in our everyday lives.
Kate can be reached at [email protected] or please call

Laughter, THE BEST MEDICINE
Father O’Malley answers the phone. “Hello, is this Father O’Malley?” “It is” “This is the IRS. Can you help us?” “I can” “Do you know a Ted Houlihan?” “I do” “Is he a member of your congregation?” “He is” “Did he donate $10,000 to the church?” “He will”.

Saint Joseph School News The learning must go on!
Saint Joseph School is currently enrolling for the 2020/2021 school year!
Email us to set up a Zoom conference at [email protected]
Over the last weeks, we have been celebrating our Grade 8 graduates! We are particularly proud of this year’s graduates, who have sacrificed so much in their final year. Like so many that graduate from our school, they are kind, conscientious, and smart young women and men. In addition to those sterling qualities, this grade has also demonstrated a tenacity, strength and grace that is beyond their young years. As a small sign of the pride, gratitude and appreciation we feel for them, Saint Joseph School has printed and placed lawn signs at the homes of each student. We are also delighted that we were able to celebrate with them in person at our Graduation Mass, which we will highlight in an upcoming bulletin. We know that all of our graduates will all do amazing things in the future and we ask God to bless them always and in all ways!
