Dear Parents and Friends of Saint Andrew’s,
As I sit down to write this letter, I am recalling past Spring Social evenings that I have had the good fortune to attend. Each one has been unique, while sharing the commonality of always being an enjoyable evening while raising needed funds for the benefit of our children.
If you have never attended, I encourage you to do so. Come with your significant other or a friend; plan to sit with a family you know well - or perhaps a family you would like to know better! As the event name implies, this really is a wonderful social event for our parents and faculty. This year our event coincides with Cinco de Mayo, so come with us on a trip to old world Mexico!
Simply by attending, you are already supporting Parents’ Association Board (PAB) programs that are a part of our Saint Andrew’s culture. With your participation in bidding on a class basket/gift, a teacher outing, purchasing raffle tickets, playing a game, and raising your paddle during the live auction, you allow the PAB to continue to bring its programs to life.
A few of these programs include: Harvest Festival, Grandparents’ Day, the Variety Show, Field Day, Common Ground Membership and STAR Speakers. The PAB also funds the Creative Arts Program (CAP) and the Pursuing Responsibility, Integrity, Discipline and Effort (PRIDE) program that are available to our faculty for special projects, assemblies, or materials to benefit our children’s education. For example: this year’s CAP funds provided a Dance and Storytelling Residency for all grades and new instruments for our middle school music program.
After funding PAB core activities, additional funds go toward a gift to the school. This year’s focus will be to support enhancements around the arts and sciences. Items on this list include a new microscope for the middle school science lab, additional features to improve the outdoor classroom for science learning in all grades, and enhanced lighting for productions in the Hall.
I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to Megan Polhemus, chair of this year’s event, and her dedicated team of parent volunteers for making tonight’s event possible. Working together they have made magic happen!
In closing, I wish to say thank you to the faculty and staff of our wonderful school. Mr. McKay, along with our amazing teachers and staff, show their dedication to our children’s growth and education each and every day.
Wishing you an enjoyable evening,
Suzanne RiversParents’ Association Board President2011-2012

Dear Generous Supporters of Saint Andrew’s,
It is my honor to greet you and thank you for participating in this year’s Spring Social “Cinco de Mayo.” This year’s Spring Social draws from the fiesta spirit of this well-known Mexican tradition. It is an opportunity to remember and support the great energy and sense of community that are here at Saint Andrew’s.
We are blessed with a tremendous school community. Its uniqueness is directly connected to the commitment and vision of parents, board members, PAB, faculty and administration. In fact, one could say that we are enjoying the effect of those who have applied themselves to strengthen our school’s mission over the past 50 years. Now it is our turn.
Please take seriously our financial need to raise funds to support important programs for our school. Our current and future students are counting on your generosity. I would like our future students to be equally as proud of being a part of our school as our recent graduates. I hope they will say with great pride, “I went to Saint Andrew’s and it was the exact foundation that I needed.” Your generosity tonight will further ensure the success of the programs that make Saint Andrew’s sing.
May tonight be filled with laughter and celebration for all of us. Thank you for your support and for all of the ways in which you share with the wider community the particular uniqueness of Saint Andrew’s that sets us apart.
Spend lots of money at our auction tonight, knowing it is for a cause we all hold in our hearts with great gratitude. May we always be blessed with such a parent community supporting the Saint Andrew’s mission of “inspiring lifelong learners.”
God’s peace,The Rev. Channing Smith, Rector

Bienvenidos a la Fiesta!
Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican celebration of heritage and pride. Tonight, we come together as a community to celebrate the school we are proud that our children attend. Saint Andrew’s provides a caring, nurturing environment for our children to learn and grow. It has been my honor to help raise money for the school and contribute to its continued evolution.
The success of this event is dependent on the time and talents of our dedicated volunteers, many of whom are from families new to our school. My heartfelt thanks and gratitude go to our Spring Social Committee members whose great ideas, boundless energy and constant support brought our vision to life. I also wish to extend special thanks to: Suzanne Rivers, our PAB President, who diligently recruited many of our volunteers and Sabrina Atwood and Juliet Vadvilavich who stepped up to lead our Fundraising Sub-Committee. Finally, we acknowledge the contributions from the school faculty and staff. Their partnership with the PAB and our committee is integral in making this a wonderful community event.
Please enjoy our version of an evening in Mexico. Eat, drink, be merry and, of course, keep your paddle handy to support our amazing school.
