Once again, Caltex™ has been recognized in the prestigious Putra Brand Awards 2015 held recently at the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Caltex, the retail brand of Chevron Malaysia Limited (“Chevron”) has moved a notch up this year and won the Silver award in the “Automotive-Fuel & Lubricants” category. Under the same category, Caltex had won the Bronze award twice – the first in 2011 and the second in 2014.

Concluding 2015 With Big Bang
Welcome to the inaugural issue of Retail Buzz where we celebrate
our progress in delivering value to our customers. Over the last 80
years, we have built a brand that is trusted by consumers, driven by
quality products, superior service and a strong connection to the
community.
This trust is evident in every interaction we have with our customers
and has been sustained over time due to our resilience in a
continually evolving market.
We have made the changes necessary to ensure that we stay true to
our brand promise and will continue to do so in the coming years.
In 2015, we continued this journey with a number of innovative
promotions and new products, but I am especially proud of the
examples we have of our service station staff delivering exceptional
service to our customers.
These team members are our brand ambassadors and their
contributions should be recognized, celebrated and emulated.
Ultimately, it is their passion that makes a real difference in the
hearts and minds of our customers. Let’s harness this energy and
passion and make a real difference in our customer’s daily journeys.
We are a strong, tested - and, yes, resilient - team. We have what it
takes to win, and I am excited to see what the new year brings. See
you at our next Retail Partners Convention in March 2016.

Q1 (January - March)
Our national promotion ‘Swipe & Drive’ which ran on the JOURNEY Card and BCARD platforms, ended successfully on 15 March 2015. A total of four Mazda cars, 41 HTC phones and other prizes each were given away.
Winners of the first round of the promotion were celebrated in a grand prize-giving ceremony in January where two of the Mazda cars were given
away along with the HTC phones.
Meanwhile, to share the excitement around Asia’s Got Talent (AGT), we extended the AGT promotion to Retail Partners and CSRs. Four stations were selected to win an all-expenses paid trip to attend the AGT Finals Show in Singapore.
Stations were judged by their incremental volume and loyalty point conversion rate during the promotion period. 38 people which included Retail Partners, their spouse, CSRs and 2 Retail Business Consultants were brought to Marina Bay Sands to experience the AGT Finals Show, live. For some of the staff, winning the trip was an eye opener for them and they welcome

Fueling Compassion For Flood Victims
The 2014 floods that had inundated some parts of Peninsular Malaysia especially the east coast, devastated the lives of many families. The disaster has rallied the nation and reinforced the strength of Malaysians who were ever willing to come forward and provide relief and assistance when it was most needed.
As part of the community and as a responsible corporate citizen operating in Malaysia, Chevron Malaysia once again with the
assistance from Chevron Corporation extended a helping hand by donating US$ 50,000 to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, to aid relief and recovery efforts for communities affected by the recent flood situation.
A cheque presentation ceremony took place in Chevron Malaysia head office, on Friday, 13 February 2015. The mock cheque was presented to Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Chairman Y.M. Tunku Tan Sri Dato’ Shahriman Tunku Sulaiman by our Country Chairman, Shahid Ahmed and PGPA Manager, Mokhtar Ali Ismail.

Caltex Star Excellence Award Program Winners
In 2015, we introduced three new incentive programs, namely Caltex Star Excellence Award Program, JOURNEY Card Incentive Challenge and “Konsisten” & Friendly Challenge (KFC) to inspire our valued Retail Partners and CSRs to drive for high performance. This is in addition to the existing on-going Customer First Mystery Shopper/Incentive and Image Stewardship Audit Program.
Caltex Star Excellence Award Program was announced at Retail Partners Convention in Gambang last year. The scoring criteria consisted of incremental volume target, JOURNEY'" Card conversion rate, Customer First (CF) Score, Image Stewardship (IS) Score and full compliance to WSM. The Putra Brand Awards, which was introduced in 2010 is a brand recognition and evaluation exercise organized annually by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies (4A), in association with Malaysia’s Most Valuable Brands (MMVB). It is endorsed by the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and is supported by the Branding Association of Malaysia (BAM), the Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA), and the Media Specialists Association (MSA).
When the government regulated the change for RON97 from Euro 2M to Euro 4M this September, we seized the opportunity to execute an exciting offer for our customers fueling up Premium 97 with Techron® at Caltex stations. Kicked off on 16 August, 2015 and taking place over a period of 6 weeks before ending on 30 September, 2015, the 6-week campaign, saw more than 190 lucky customers rewarded with a share of over RM110,000 worth of prizes. It also served as an opportunity to reward loyal and new customers nationwide who use Caltex’s premium fuel.
Winner Karuna, who has been a loyal Caltex Customer for the last nine years, expressed, “I participated in a previous Caltex promotion but luck was not on my side. This time, I am thrilled to have walked away with the cash prize from the RON97 Promotion. Thank you Chevron for this, and I look forward to the next promotion.”

In pursuit of enhancing the learning experience for public schools in Malaysia, Caltex Fuel Your School returned again in 2015 - this time tapping into the states of Malacca and Negeri Sembilan.
After its successful streak in 2012, 2013 and 2014, covering the states of Penang, Johor, Kedah and Terengganu, the Fuel Your School campaign is now on a roll to make a difference by giving back to communities in other states where Caltex operates in.
The community campaign, which partnered with MyKasih Foundation, was officially launched on Oct 6, 2015 by our Country Chairman, Shahid and Puan Siti Khairun Shariff, of MyKasih Foundation accompanied by Mr. Mohd bin Janis, Assistant Director, Communications and Registrations Unit of Malacca State Education Department; and Tuan Haji Rashid Abdul Hamid, Head of Education Officers, Districts of Malacca.
The event was made joyous with the presence of MyKasih Foundation employees, Branded Marketers, Caltex Retailers from Malacca and Negeri Sembilan, Chevron employees, members of the media and teachers from these 2 states.
Under Chevron's Energy for Learning global initiative, the Caltex Fuel Your School program plays a significant role in providing an enriching learning experience for local public school students. Teachers from local public schools are given this valuable opportunity to submit a classroom project and receive up to RM5,000 worth in learning materials and supplies.
Heroism seems to be a special characteristic of our Caltex service stations staff. After the previous courageous steps taken by Din Islam of Radiant Star, another two Caltex service station staff from Hedges Calnergy, Jalan Pudu followed suit in displaying commendable acts of bravery. Both Mr. Rakib and Mr. Soo Hock Kim CSRs on duty one night managed to save a suicidal man from the brink of death – an attempt to douse himself with fuel and light himself on fire.
After assessing and monitoring the man’s odd behavior for a while, they immediately sprang into action as soon as they saw him holding out a lighter while lifting the nozzle from the pump. Covertly, Rakib and Soo Hock Kim pulled him aside to safety, and coaxed him not to take his own life. The Retailers were then urgently informed of the incident.
We at Chevron are indeed proud of the virtuous act of Rakib and Soo Hock Kim. To honor this, CML recently presented both heroes with tokens of appreciation.
