La Carrera de Idiomas de la Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la Educación
de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato por sus niveles de excelencia se

EXIT PROFILE
Al concluir la Carrera de Idiomas los estudiantes demostrarán haber adquirido y
desarrollado las siguientes competencias, capacidades, habilidades, destrezas y
desempeños como resultados de su formación profesional:
1. Usa el idioma inglés a un nivel B2 del Common European Framework.
2. Maneja competentemente los métodos y estrategias metodológicas para la
enseñanza del idioma inglés según las exigencias del Teaching Knowledge Test
(TKT)
3. Diseña programas o cursos específicos y sus respectivos materiales didácticos.
4. Elabora materiales didácticos mediante la utilización de NTIC´s.
5. Transforma el contexto educativo a tráves de la práctica de valores.
6. Genera escenarios de aprendizaje significativos dando lugar a la investigación
participativa, el aprendizaje basado en problemas y el trabajo en equipo.
7. Maneja leyes y reglamentos de Educación Ecuatoriana.
8. Aplica técnicas de valoración de los aprendizajes, así como también de su propio
desempeño docente.
9. Manejo de los aspectos sociales, intelectuales y psicológicos de los estudiantes
para promover el aprendizaje.
La Carrera de Idiomas adopta como instrumentos de evaluación interno del perfil de
ingreso dos simulaciones de exámenes con estándares internacionales. Siendo así,
Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) test de acreditación internacional para la enseñanza
del inglés y Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) para la competencia
comunicativa.
Para ello la Coordinación de Carrera de Idiomas organizará dentro de los módulos
optativos seminarios taller de preparación para dichos tests, los mismos que podrán ser
aprobados a partir del séptimo semestre.

STATEMENT OF PERSONAL LEARNING GOALS
The main reasons I have for taking this syllabus “Advanced English II” are to practice
and use the language in real context. Another important reason is to improve my
pronunciation and fluency at the moment to express my ideas and opinions.
Furthermore, the mains expectations that I have are to improve my English skills
learning more vocabulary and improving spelling and punctuation in my compositions.
I think this course will contribute to my future professional because I will be able to
improve my abilities in the English language. Also, it helps me to acquire the language
in order to develop communicative competences. Therefore, I will achieve my goals
being a responsible person, practicing vocabulary and grammar and paying attention in
each class to improve my spelling.
In conclusion, this syllabus helps me to be a good professional in the future applying
some English strategies and skills to have the appropriate knowledge and practice in
order to improve the four skills which are writing, speaking, listening and reading.

III. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES
Purpose: This module is intended to prepare students for international Cambridge
ESOL exams such as FCE. It will let learners of English reinforce, practice and use the
language in real contexts. This module includes specific learning outcomes which will
evidence those students have reached an effective operational proficiency or advanced
B2 (Common European Framework).
Course Description: (Abstract)
At the end of this module, students will be able to:
Firstly, identify a wide range of demanding vocabulary for most general topic areas.
Secondly, apply strategies for expressing ideas fluently and spontaneously without
much obvious searching for expressions. Thirdly, use language flexibly and effectively
for social, academic and professional purposes. Fourthly, produce clear, well-
structured detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational

patterns, connectors and cohesive devices. Finally, express him/ herself spontaneously,
very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most
complex situations. This module contributes to the competences students develop in
the other modules that are part of the Communicative Competence.
In order to create a good learning atmosphere in which students can process and
internalize the information, some approaches will be used, such as the Communicative
Language Teaching, Functional approach and Cooperative learning. Furthermore, in
this module students will participate in formative and summative assessment. The FCE
(First Certificate In English) corresponds to the Council Common European
Framework level B2.
Course General Objective:
Use the English language correctly and appropriately to accomplish communication
goals.
Course Specific Objectives :
1. Demonstrate reading skills such as understanding of opinions and feelings, how a
text is organized, main ideas of a text and get general ideas.
2. State criteria content, communicative achievement, organization and language
skills in written texts.
3. Identify the proper use of English related to vocabulary, grammar and
paraphrasing in different context.
4. Develop listening skills such as understanding for specific information, opinion,
detail and general meaning of the whole text about real life situations.
5. Show accuracy when speaking about different topics using appropriate language
structure, vocabulary range, intonation and stress.

FINAL REFLECTION
This syllabus “Advanced English II” that I studied this semester was very useful
because I acquired an amply vocabulary in general topics. Also, I developed reading,
listening and writing skills using some English strategies. Furthermore, I improved my
speaking using appropriate language structure, vocabulary, intonation and stress at the
moment to communicate with other people.
This syllabus is important because I achieved all the goals during this semester through
effort and perseverance. It contributes to students’ proficiency in the English language
by allowing students to practice pronunciation in familiar topics where students are able
to expresses by themselves their own ideas. Also, this module helps students a lot
because they are more in depth about the English language improving their fours skill
In the future allow us to open dozen of doors and opportunities for student exchange,
travel, work and study. Therefore, it requires practice and the use of the language in our
daily lives. It’s beneficial to know this module because it gives us many advantages in
our life to be great and successful professionals in the future.
