Methodology
• Heterogeneity strategy
• Sample size: 6 Expert (Senior) Employees
• From distinctive Department
• Grounded Theory (Bryant, 2017) opted for data collection
• Knowledge elicitation method applied -Unstructured interview
• 15 ~ 20 minutes for the interview
• Purposive sampling (Robinson, 2013)
• Applied axial coding (Strauss & Coding, 1990)
• Qualitative Data Analysis applied
Key Findings
1. Recognition of Prior Knowledge
2. Moving Pedagogy to Andragogy
approach
3. Necessity to address current
Instructional Design
4. Workplace Learning (Process maps,
flow charts, Checklists, Posters,
Procedures with pictures)
Key recommendation with alternate
options (Curriculum Development)
5. Applying Technological advancement
Purpose for Recognition of Prior Knowledge
• Aiming at the (re)integration of individuals into
education and training, tacit knowledge, previous work
experience, identifying the Training Needs to match the
JD

• Requires self-assessment and self-reflection
• Candidate is writer and owner
• Supervisor or Manager is verifier
• Document is in continuous development
• Includes documents of evidence
Instrument to identify and describe competences
Recognition of Prior Knowledge - Process
Pedagogy Andragogy
Dependent on Teacher Increasing self Directiveness
Learners Less Experienced Learners a rich source for Learning
Subject-Centered Learning Problem center learning

Teacher evaluates students Employee and Supervisor mutual evaluation measurement
Characteristics of Adult Learners
✓Adults need to know why they are learning; how will it affect
them?
✓Adults are autonomous and self-directed
✓Adults have a lifetime of experience
✓Adults use a hands-on problem-solving approach to learning
✓Adults want to apply new knowledge and skills immediately
✓Adults need to be shown respect
✓Provision for Millennial vs Baby Boomer learners
What is Instructional Design?
• A systematic process
• For analyzing, developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating instructional materials and activities
• A formal discipline that focuses on

• The process for developing and implementing these strategies
Questions to ask yourself - 1W and 4Hs
WHAT exactly to instruct
