PEGGY BAKERTHE DISAPPEARENCE OF RIGHT AND LEFTSaturday Febuary 9, 7:30 pm
Choreography, Direction: Sarah Chase • Text and Performance: Peggy Baker
An autobiographical work created in 2004, The Disappearance of Right and Left is a seamless
marriage of movement and text, drawing on stories from Ms Baker’s family history as well as her
own life experiences. Themes of transformation, belonging, loss and joy are shared with the
audience in an intimate and reflective performance. The Disappearance of Right and Left is by
turns, funny, nostalgic, sad, touching, connecting with people of any age and background. It has
been met with laughter and tears and appreciation by audiences across Canada and in New York.
All Tickets: $21.99 www.peggybakerdance.com
“Like fine wine, she gets better with age; more complex yet also more distinctive. Baker can stillmove with the dynamic incisiveness that made her so exciting a quarter century ago, but todayher dancing embraces the power of stillness and the resonance of silence. Call it the wise body. The movements we actually see are like pieces of an abstract jigsaw puzzle that floatamorphously in the imagination.”~ MICHAEL CRABB, National Post

“Carol Welsman defies allexpectations. A singer of uncom-mon musical and dramatic range, she is also a superb pianist. Moreover, in the hipster argot of theRat Pack, she’s “a tall drink” whoseglamour-gal looks would stoptraffic even at Sunset and Vine.”~ CHUCK BERG, Topeka Capital-Journal

THE NUMBER 14Axis Theatre CompanyFriday January 25th, 8:00 pm
The wheels are rolling and we’re off! The
wealthy, the destitute, the aggressive and the
apathetic, strangers and lovers, the kind and the
cruel. Sitting on a seat in this bus becomes a
dance, silence becomes music. Six actors
transform into sixty characters as the audience is
transported, taken for a ride on The Number 14.
The cast of The Number 14 use masks to create
larger than life characters, instantly recognizable
as the people we see every day.

meditation in movement inspired by Erik Satie's
immortal music Gymnopédies and Gnossiennes.
Eight dancers, stunning in their presence and
vulnerability, present a choreography with the
precision of calligraphy and structured like a
musical score to Satie's ethereal melodies,
performed live by the acclaimed French pianist
Claire Chevallier. .
