• Spotters are the eyes and ears of the NWS• Spotters call NWS via landline when hazardous or

weather on a fixed time schedule• Weather event occurs - spotter reports the event• Spotters report hazardous/severe weather in

Scanning Frequencies Stored in Memory Channels in a Memory Bank
Push the VHF volume control knob (VOL) to select the VHF side of the Front Panel Display. Put the radio in Memory mode by pushing MR (Memory Retrieve) on the right-hand side of the gray toggle switch on the upper left-hand side of the front panel. Push MR as many times as necessary to select the desired Memory Bank to be scanned. Press the UP or DOWN key on the Microphone to select a Memory Channel to be included in the scan. Push the SCAN button to start scanning the frequencies stored in Memory Channels in the active Memory Bank. Push SCAN again to stop scanning.
Establishing an EchoLink Channel from Pendleton to Bend
Select Memory Channel 19 in Memory Bank A. Turn VHF volume control knob (VOL) clockwise to turn up volume. Press Microphone PTT (Push To Talk) switch and say, ″This is (your Amateur Radio Call Sign) accessing EchoLink through WA7HJV.″ Then, while pressing the PTT switch, use the DTMF keypad on the Microphone to enter the EchoLink node access number for the Bend EchoLink repeater node: 211222. This EchoLink channel enables you to communicate with the Deschutes – Jefferson – Crook County SKYWARN Net. To disconnect the EchoLink channel, simultaneously press the PTT switch and press the # (pound sign) key on the Microphone keypad. February 23, 2011
