MULTICULTURALISM
Multiculturalism (or ethnic diversity) relates to communities containing multiple cultures including countries, races, and religions. Aborigines White People (mainly British) Half-blood people Asians
In this discussion, we would like to emphasis on the Asian culture in Australia since it is
noticeable.
This scene shows that there is a multiculturalism in the movie. The is actually for the white people, but the theme is using the Chinese theme (shown by the lampion and Chinese letter on it).
This scene’s setting in an Australian bar, but we can find the picture of a Chinese woman on the wall. It gives us another evidence of the multiculturalism existence.
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor on the 7th of December 1941, the imperial Japanese navy steamed south, unleashing their fire on Darwin, a city in the northern territory of Australia.
On this scene we can see a Japanese woman. We assume that she is a geisha since she uses a kimono with heavy make-up. Moreover, she walks around a men bar. Therefore, we assume she is a geisha.
Traditional Clothes from Japan
It is called Kimono. We can see it on the movie.
