PRODUCTION OF NUCLEOPORE FILTER
A roll of polycarbonate film is made to pass next to a fission plate. Fission fragments create uniform pores on the film changing it to Nucleopore filter material.
Nucleopore filters (submicron pores) are used in chemistry and molecular biology. They are able to trap cells.

TRANSMUTATION DOPING OF SILICON SEMICONDUCTOR
Ingots of high purity single crystal silicon are irradiated in nuclear reactors to produce semiconductor. Phosphorus-31 acts as an electron donor.
Silicon is the second most abundant element in the earth’s crust after oxygen. It is obtained from sand (silicon oxide) and is widely used as a semiconductorin the computer and electronics industries.
Used to make transistors, integrated circuits, IR detectors, power rectifiers, in energy production and storage applications.
