October 7, 2014 – Presented by Chris Clark, Kaneb Center
Pixton comics comprise one or more panels or scenes arranged in rows. To edit a comic, click a button or click and drag an object in a panel. You only see the buttons that relate to what you're doing. Using modes is key to Pixton. Click a character and you'll see buttons on the left side of the panel. The green one is for "edit expression mode", where you can change any body part. NOTE: Pixton is based on Flash and doesn’t work on iPads
Each panel can include
1. Characters
○ Posed body parts
○ Facial expression
○ Outfit (clothing)
2. Speech bubbles
3. Props
4. A background
Your task for today
1. Browse to Pixton.com – at the upper left, click “Schools” and then “Login”
2. Enter your demo account screen name (the one with the underlines) and password (all capital letters)
3. Click “Open” by the "Make it Your Own" assignment, then “Remix This Comic”
4. Click the comic to begin editing (under “Edit Settings” you can go to fullscreen editing)
5. Edit the comic: fill out speech bubbles, change a character’s pose / facial expression / clothing / hair, add props, move things, zoom in, pick a new color or background, etc.
6. When you’re done, click “Save & Submit” and enter a clever (or silly) title
7. If time, make a “Pixture” for yourself -‐ click “edit” under the icon on your home page
After the instructor has had time to check in the comics that have been submitted, go to the home page and click “Comics Approved” to see what other people have done.
