Homecoming Dress
Up Days
By Katie Thorpe and Megan Mullins
Big, Bright, and Beautiful!
Homecoming week 2011: Throwback
the Wildcats!
Throughout the homecoming week we had three
different dress up days and, of course, our class
colors day. Tuesday was “Big, Bright, and
Beautiful” day- students were to wear bright
colored clothes from the eighties. Wednesday
was “80’s hair day”- students wore their hair up
as big as they could. Thursday was “Pretty in
Pink” and teachers dress up day- students
decked out in pink and teachers wore clothes
they would have in the 80’s. Friday was “Class
colors day”- we, of course, had to wear our class
colors (green for freshmen, white for
sophomores, yellow for juniors, and blue for
seniors).

Homecoming Floats!!
Work in progress….
Finished!
Homecoming floats aren’t really a tradition
for SCHS. Floats were made back in the day
but it got to be too much trouble so we just
started to decorate boards. This year, after a
bit of thinking, Mr. Embry approved of the
floats. Since the theme was “Throwback the
Wildcats”, almost all the floats are throwing
the wildcats back home.

Homecoming Relays
By Anna Navarrette
Due to Homecoming week, classes competed for class points and
the number one prize, “THE SPIRT STICK” on Thursday. All week
there were different things to do in order to get your class above the
rest. For example, eighties hair day, class color, Shoes for Soles, and
last but not least the relays are some activities that took place.
Relays consisted of different members of each class to compete
against each other. Different Relays had different names but since
we were trying to be eight-ish some of the names were a little old
time. The winners were announced by the three representatives
below who happen to be showing their sprit.
Glamour Girl was the most popular relay of the day. The
objective was for a football player in each class to dress up like a
girl and walk the runway.
Tug of War was the second most popular relay in which only one
team lay undefeated.
The Undefeated Senior Boys
In asking how they felt to be undefeated the second year in a row
they replied, “WE FEEL GOOD OOHH WE FEEL SO GOOD,UNH,
UNG,UNG!”
Powder Puff Cheerleaders: Best Part of Homecoming?
By: Meredith G. White and Alli Kirkman
What’s the best part of homecoming? Is it the football game? Is it the dress-up days? Is it the pep rally
or the relays? Nope, it’s the powder puff cheerleaders! It’s SCHS tradition for girls to play football and boys to
be cheerleaders. And the competition isn’t just on the football field but also on the track where the cheerleaders
cheer.
First up were the freshmen and the sophomores and they were in a heated battle of who could do the best
tricks. They did some amazing tricks including throwing a cheerleader in the air and catching them!
Sterling Smith from the sophomore team bravely took the on the ultimate trust fall and was
thrown into the air to land safely into his teammates arms.
Creole Kemp was the freshman who braved standing on his teammate’s
shoulder as they cheered the “freshmen” Rumble!
Unfortunately, during the sophomore’s dance there were technical difficulties with their CD skipping and
eventually the cd stopped altogether and the sophomores finished their dance by singing the words to the song
without their music. Later on in the night they got to redeem themselves when they got the CD player fixed and
they re-did their dance. The sophomores’ performing their dance for homecoming.
The freshmen built a human pyramid during their dance!
Up second were the juniors and the seniors and there was an obvious rivalry between them! They were
sportsman like during most of the night but at one point during the football game some unsportsmanlike actions
happened. Yelling and mocking and even some butt shaking!
The seniors did some butt shaking at their Junior rivals.
The juniors retaliated by showing off their skills. Here Hunter
Hudson helps out Alex Warren with his back flip.
The seniors dance was fantastic. Wearing their cheerleading
skirts, the boys took to the field armed with umbrellas (“It’s Raining Men”) and a jump rope in their bag of
tricks.
The juniors were just as amazing and had a dance full of more back
flips, chorus lines, and hip shaking to 80’s hits.
Over all it was a great performance by every grade; each having their own personal and unique styles and
excellent executions. Next year’s cheerleaders have a lot to live up to.
By Hannah West and Waylon Hobby
The juniors played the seniors in the first powder-puff game. The victory went to the seniors with a 6-0 win.
The second game played involved the sophomores and the freshmen. The winner of the game was the sophomores with a 6-0 win.
The championship game was seniors vs. sophomores. The sophomores came out with the win with the score being 6-0. It was the most entertaining game of the night. All the teams tried their
hardest, but the sophomores tried their best and won. We would like to thank all those girls and boys who participated in Powder-puff for their hard work.
Homecoming Pep Rally By: Payne Long
Shelbyville Central High school showed its spirit at the homecoming pep rally
between everyone cheering along with our cheerleaders and the classes competing
against each other. In the end, the senior class was the overall winner of the pep rally,
which was appreciated a lot, being their last football homecoming pep rally.
There were class competitions during the pep rally, such as a singing bee. In the
singing bee the selected students had to finish the song lyrics to an 80’s song, and the
freshmen class was the winner of the competition. The classes were teamed up between
seniors and sophomores; juniors and freshmen in a cheering competition and over all the
seniors and sophomores were the winners. The senior class boys were the winners of the
powder-puff cheerleading, so there was a performance by them that was very
entertaining! Over all the homecoming pep rally was a great success; it lets everyone
show their school spirit and support the Eagles!

Every school year is full of festivities that give each student the opportunity to show their school spirit and class pride. These are organized by

Shelbyville Central High School Homecoming Game By: Cain Barrett
The students and faculty at SCHS were on the edge of their seats all of homecoming week
waiting for the biggest game of the year. Eagles fans all across the county piled into Eagles
Stadium to watch the SCHS homecoming Football game against the Lawrence County Wildcats.
The Eagles easily defeated The Wildcats in what would quickly become a blowout game.
The Eagles dominated on both offense and defense, collecting nearly 400 yards of
offense, while the defense only allowed 266 yards with four turnovers. Junior running back
Marquis Morton scored four touchdowns in the first half, with a 13-yard run and an 18-yard
pass play by quarterback Luke Faulk. Shelbyville ended the first half with a one sided score of
35-6. By the end of the game, Marquis Morton racked up a whopping 165 yards on 21 carries,
and received 3 passes for 26 yards. Senior quarterback Luke Faulk did his fair share of work,
connecting with 9-of-11 passes, and passing for 100 yards in the game. The final score of the
game was 41-6, making the Golden Eagles 6-1. Don’t forget senior night is October 28th vs.
Lincoln County. Everyone come out and support your SCHS football team!! GO EAGLES!
