Pupil Achievements
Pre-Prep Christmas Plays
It was a great shame that due to so much illness in Year 2 their part of the Pre-Prep play could not go ahead this afternoon, but I am sure they will more than make up for it when they have their extra performance on Tuesday afternoon. The Reception and Year 1 play continues as normal and I know it will be absolutely brilliant, as always, and the perfect way to get our Christmas preparations fully underway.
Virtual Reality Workshops
Year 5 enjoyed some workshops this week using virtual reality headsets from 'Incursions', where this really was a fine example of using technology to explore the world around us. The films they saw in 360o featured aborigines and the wonderful Australian landscape.
Advent Countdown to Christmas
There has been much excitement through the school as various years, forms and other groups have been filmed for their short clip to mark the Advent countdown to Christ-mas. Many of you have already seen these clips on our Facebook and Twitter pages and on the digital display screens throughout the school. They are certainly proving to be very popular and great fun for the children (and staff!).
Church Services
The Advent Church Services this morning were lovely occasions and I particularly want to thank all those pupils who took part, whether reading a poem, delivering the pray-ers or singing. It was a splendid warm-up for the Carol Services the week after next which, just to remind you, are on Thursday 15 December at 2.45pm for Years 3, 4 and 5 and on Friday 16 December at 2.45pm for Years 6, 7 and 8.
Year 5 Drama
I am also very much looking forward to the Year 5 production ‘Reflections of War’. This is always one of my favourite Drama evenings of the year and takes place next Thurs-day at 5.30pm in the Hunter Hall.
Thank you
Years 5 and 7 had a visit from a Virtual Reality Experience company
on Tuesday where they took part in an Aboriginal workshop,
watching video and enjoying virtual reality games.

Tea is provided for all performers and those siblings who requested it. A re-minder to those performing to bring something Christmassy to wear!
Carol Services Our Carol Services which take place on the last two days of the term are something that we always look forward to. Jun-ior Song and the Year 5 Choir members will be singing as part of the Junior Carol Service on Thursday 15th December and the Years 6, 7 & 8 Choir members will be singing as part of the Senior Carol Service on Friday 16th December. Parents are most welcome to attend.
If any mums would like to join the choir singing the descants in the carol services (rehearsals not necessarily required!), please let Mrs Fountain know on [email protected]
Cancelled Music Rehearsals There will be no Junior Song or Senior Choir on Tuesday 13th December. All music practices will be cancelled following the Christmas Concerts. They will recommence in the Spring term.

With sploshes of red and green paint, and balls of fluffy white cotton wool at every turn, there is no escaping the wonderful Christmassy feeling that surrounds Pre-Prep. The entire department, from tables, little hands and faces, and even the cleaner’s hoover, are positively twinkling and glistening with glitter! To add to the magical festive atmosphere, I have asked all of the children, in their classes, to make their own unique and beautiful star to hang in the middle area, so that it creates a twinkling, twirling sea of stars above our heads. You will have to come and admire it once it is finished!
Earlier this week, Mrs Cohen joined us and busily set about taking individual photo-graphs of the children in their nativity costumes. Wriggling into their costumes, the children could barely contain their excitement ~ at one point, Mrs Bold’s door flew open and into the middle area spilled six white, fluffy balls of tulle and shimmering organza as a host of little angels bobbed about, delighted by their tutus, and twisting and spinning to admire their sparkling wings. A heart-warming moment that made all the hard work exceedingly worthwhile! Please don’t forget that the nativity photographs will be on display for you to view, order and purchase, should you wish to do so, in the Hunter Hall Foyer until Monday and then afterwards in the Pre-Prep middle area.
To add to the excitement of this week, both Reception and Year 1 have enjoyed a trip to the Warwick Arts Centre, to watch an adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s much loved story ‘Stickman’. The children loved every moment, with lots of clapping and laughing throughout. Staring in wonder at Stickman’s family tree, it was the arrival of Father Christmas and a red-nosed reindeer that was the highlight of the show, which brought about many delighted gasps.
Well…. the day has finally arrived! The sleeps have been counted down and this afternoon sees the first of our highly anticipated Pre-Prep Christmas performances. I know that the Reception and Year 1 children will dazzle you with their ‘Not Now, Nativity’. Sadly, as you already know, we have had to postpone the Year 2 perfor-mance of ‘Lights, Camel, Action’ this afternoon. We wish all those unwell a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing Year 2, alongside Reception and Year 1, in their performance on Monday and at the rearranged time of Tuesday 6th December at 2.45pm. It is worth remembering that both today’s, Monday’s, and now Tuesday’s, performances are going to be live streamed, so do follow the link www.sprattonhall.com/live for an extra treat from the comfort of where ever you may be.
