A more efficient pedal. Ergon introduces the first flat pedal (or Contour Pedal as we call it) to provide an ergonomic and positive connection between bike and user. The first pedal designed with biomechanics and correct foot position in mind. Advantages are increased power transfer, more control and fewer hot spots and knee complaints. The Ergon PC2 is the first non SPD-type pedal constructed with the ergonomic biomechanical demands of the user as a priority.

No loss in power. The first ever tool for simple yet precise Installation of cleats On cycling shoes.

The critical interface. The energy that goes into cycling is transferred via thepedal, shoe and cleat. Ergonomics in this area plays a massive role. Withoutan ergonomic setup power and performance will be lost. Comfort will becompromised. Injury could result. Correctly installed cleats are noticeable from thefirst ride. The Ergon TP1 allows the accurate adjustment of the three axis whichare important when installing cleats. The fore/aft position, the stance (Q-Factor)and the foot angle. It is simple, fast and effective.

The tool is completed by a small handbook. This is a guide to basic ergonomicsof the foot and leg, the biomechanic consequences and a simple step bystep manual for using the TP1. For expert users information is provided aboutmaximising performance.

The main problem with backpacks made for cycling is the poor fit. This is especially apparent when riding off-road. For this reason Ergon deliberately chose this criteria as the main point to design a pack around. The result is the ‘Perfect Fit Backpack’. Using a new shoulder strap setup, minimum user input is needed to find the correct fit. Simply adjust the back length (it has four levels) and the other straps automatically find the correct angle - be it at the hip, or shoulder.

A second innovation the Ergon BX2 introduces is the load compression. The shoulder straps meet under the pack, compressing the load ensuring it is as close to the rider’s centre of gravity as possible. It makes for a pack which is a lot more stable than a traditional pack.

The Backpack Motion System. Developed for Cyclists.Goodbye Gravity.Nobody really likes carrying a backpack... it is a necessity. It restricts your movement while the weight of the load has an undesired effect on your skeleton, muscles and posture. In a word, it is exhausting. People are dynamic and constantly moving. As you move, any load will be continually transferred to your body and your shoulders will have to move this weight, constantly putting your muscles under strain. The more active you are, the greater the effect. Lower capacity day packs, touring packs and backpacks for athletes are based on an outdated design which ignores the influence of dynamic movement on carrying comfort. As ergonomic specialists, our target is to make backpacks as comfortable as possible. Our revolutionary backpack design – a direct result of our exhaustive studies – allows the upper body to move freely and independantly from the load. The semi-rigid frame transfers the load lower, to the body’s center of gravity, and to a point where the back’s movement is minimal.

To achieve the desired freedom of movement for the upper body it was obvious that the shoulder harness system needed to be isolated from the load resulting in a brilliant and revolutionary solution. Using the central Flink® Link ball joint, in combination with a load bearing frame, Ergon has created a backpack featuring unequaled comfort and freedom of movement.

Bladder system for Ergon and non Ergon hydration backpacks. Madefrom an hygienic, FDA tested Polyurethane. The extremely robustmaterial can be stretched up to 8 times its current length withoutripping. The large opening allows easy filling and cleaning, as theentire bladder is reversible. The extra long, taste free hose is speciallydesigned to match perfectly to the extra length required by Ergonbackpacks. It features a 90 degree angled bite valve, preventingunwanted kinking. For cleaning and ease of use the hose has aplug and play connector, allowing its removal - this means that thebladder can be filled without removing the hose from your backpack.A major advantage over other systems. An integrated valve preventsliquid escaping when the hose is disconnected. Clip in compatibilitywith Ergon’s backpacks - the ultimate bladder for your Ergon MotionSystem.

The founding principle is based on the comfort series grips of the P, R,and C ranges. The compact grip body used for the GX1, and GX2 hasa wing form that is a lot slimmer than previous models. The diameter ofthe centre of the grip is also slimmed down makes it ideal for situationswhere constant hand position changes are required because of thevarying terrain. The grip is made of a lightweight rubber and combined

with the secure lightweight clamp the GX1 model is significantly lighterthan our previous grips. The GX2 Carbon model is supplied with integra-ted 100% carbon bar ends weighting as little as 50g. The GX is the cross country grip by which all others are judged.

Since 2005 Topeak-Ergon Racing Team has been one of the most successfulProfessional Mountain Bike Teams worldwide. World XC Champion, World MarathonChampion, European Marathon Champion, World 24h Championships Pairs Silver,German National Champion - a few of the successes the team has in the last fiveyears.. Topeak-Ergon Racing Team is an essential part of the research anddevelopment into new products, flowing feedback directly into the core of productdevelopment.

Ergon’s support does not stop with Topeak-Ergon Racing Team. Through our international distributors Ergon can be seen being used by top-level athletes Worldwide. From Japan to the United Kingdom, Brazil to Italy. Many top riders demand they ride Ergon. We also support many local events, where the unsung heroes, the end users, get to experience Ergon.

There aren‘t many real Legends in the MTB scene, but Dave Wiens is one of the few. For over 20 years he has raced against, and quite often beaten the best in the World. A career that has seen him as the US National Champion twice, he has managed as well as raced for teams. His status was officially recognised in 2002 with his admission to the “Mountain Bike Hall of Fame”.

In 2009 the score was settled as Dave fought to win his seventh Leadville 100, against amongst others, Lance Armstrong (who he had beaten in 2008). Finishing second to Lance though is something only Alberto Contador can better! With Wiens’ experience his input to Ergon cannot bequantified.

Performance Comfort

Problem: Carpal tunnel syndrome

Solution: Ergon Grip

Problem: Ulna nerve irritation

Solution:Ergon Grip

Ergon GP, GC, GR, GX and GS grips prevent numb fingers, painful hands and forearms – problems that many riders face. The cause of this is high pressure on the particularly sensitive areas of the palm and an incorrect hand position. Due to their anatomically optimal design, Ergon grips provide a contact surface of 100%. Regular grips only provide a contact surface ofapproximately 60%. With increased contact surface, pressure is especially

reduced in the area of the ulna nerve, thus decreasing the likelihood ofnumbness. Furthermore, the anatomic form of the Ergon Performance andRace Series grips corrects your hand position. An incorrect hand positionand overloading of the median nerve (a leading cause of carpal tunnelsyndrome) are impossible as long as the grip is mounted correctly.

The Size Difference. As hand size is different from person to person, Ergon manufactures theGP, GC, GR, GS, GE and GA ranges in two sizes - Small and Large. Thisdifference is in the diameter of the grip. The reason for this is that a largerhand is better able to grip a larger grip with less stress and effort. This is

the same in reverse for small grip. A smaller hand needs a smaller gripto allow the hand to close around it. Of course, this is all also down topersonal preference. More information is available online at:www.ergon-bike.com

In some situations people simply need more hand positions. Employing the much proven ergonomic grip body of the GC2, the GC3 introduces a hollow formed glass fiber reinforced ergonomically shaped bar end. Featuring rubberized inserts for positive grip, like all of Ergon’s bar ends it can be independently positioned relative to the grip and acts as the clamp preventing accidental rotation. The grip itself is available in two sizes.

GC3

The new GR3 offers the recognized class leading ergonomics of all Ergon Performance Comfort Series grips, combined with a full size, ergonomic, angle adjustable bar end. This doubles to clamp itself and the independently adjustable grip into position. The bar end features rubberized inserts for a firm slip free hold.

Performance Comfort

The GP1 BioKork provides ultimate ergonomics for the hand just as the rest of Ergon’s Performance Comfort series do, however the unique qualities of cork means that it is now antibacterial and hypoallergenic. Cork’s natural damping qualities also make it an ideal grip material, and its now density mean the resulting grip is a lot lighter. The GP1 BioKork uses 40% cork, sourced from sustainable forests in Portugal which is certified for its ecologically sound production. This ecological theme is continued throughout the rest of the grip. The inner core is plastic reinforced using natural fibre, which make up 40% of its mass. In place of mineral oil, the gel in the palm section of the grip is vegetable oil based. The clamp can also be 100% recycled. It is all a result of Ergon’s “GreenLab” initiative. Available for Rohloff / Nexus and Gripshift.

GP1 BioKork

Ergon’s GreenLab initiative is about combining the core principles ofergonomics and performance with ecologically aware practices.

Introduced in 2010, and for 2011, the GreenLab initiative has played animportant role in the Ergon Development Department and the resultsof that can be seen starting with the innovations in the last two years.Ergon’s extensive grip assortment is now presented with completelyreworked and re-invented packaging. This uses as little material aspossible to achieve our aims, and much of the material used is recycled.

The sustainability of the packaging was a key factor, and that thepackaging can be recycled after use, and uses as few components aspossible, a priority – minimising the environmental impact. The result ofthis new packaging quest is so innovative that it has already won thecoveted German DesignPlus packaging prize. A further example is theGP1, new GR2 BioKork and GC3 BioKork grips. Once again, it is Ergonsetting the standards using the most innovative materials and technologyto achieve our aims.

Hans “No Way” Rey:

“The GA1 is a phenomenal grip. It gives me theperfect feel for my bike and confidence in anysituation. Ergon has perfected the art of making amountain bike grip.“

Richie Schley “Schleyer”

“I ride a different bike daily from my R.E.D. DH bike in the Whistler bike park to my all mountain trail bike Rotwild R.E.D. 3 and find the grip so much superior because of it’s ergonomic feel. In wet conditions the shape gives me a better contact to the bars. The end clamps are my guide to the edge of my handle bar which gives me awareness to where my hand position is and security not to come off the bars. Try them out to feel the difference yourself.”
