The Symposium on Teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) aims to bring together English-language instructors teaching ESP at the universities of Bolzano, Trento and Verona to share with other colleagues working at the three universities, and with local secondary school teachers, how their specific teaching contexts inform their teaching of ESP. The Symposium, organised jointly by the Faulty of Economics and Management at the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano and the TESOL Italy Val d’Adige local group, will provide
opportunities for the ESP instructors to share experiences and best practice. It will also act as a valuable interface between instructors of ESP, school teachers and other
academic and teaching staff who use English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI).
The Symposium will provide a platform for ESP instructors to present a mixture of their teaching context, methodology and assessment methods, and then all participants will have an opportunity to discuss and develop approaches to teaching ESP in light of the
input from the members of the three institutions during the round table discussion.
The presenters will be Letizia Cirillo, Michael Ennis and Jemma Prior from unibz, Elisabetta Morelli and Catherine Riley from the University of Trento and Sharon Hartle
from the University of Verona.
The latest ESP and General English course and methodology books will be on show from Oxford University Press, Macmillan, Pearson/Longman, Garnet Education, Loescher &
Cambridge University Press during the parallel book fair.
