Why should educators promote a culture ofpeace?Would language become real if we integrated aculture of peace in our classrooms? 3. Language classrooms are known for promotinganxiety, stress and competition, rather than thecollaboration and sensitive awareness. 4. Teaching and Practicing Peace in the EFL classPeace does not simply involve the absence of warbut includes the concept of peaceful collaborationamongst individuals and groups of different ethnicbackgrounds as well as from the same ethnicbackground... Students benefit by learning to collaboratemore effectively and by avoiding conflict andviolence.Can English Language Teachers rise to thesechallenges? Human rights and an education which has peace as its goal are not aluxury but are at the roots of the mission of an educationalinstitution..Peace Linguistics is a term which appeared in the 90s for the promotion ofpeace and human rights at international level and stressed the value oflinguistic multilingualism at national and international level.Within this framework, there is a need to create languageattitudes which respect the dignity of individual speakers and speechcommunities (D.Crystal, 1999). 6.
