Did you know???Since 1995, over 2,500 trees have been plantedthroughout the USF campus.
USF has reduced land area that is being covered and
will be allowed to remain an open space by building
taller, not wider.
Currently, there are more than 4 miles of bike lanes
on the Tampa campus.
USF is a Charter Participant of the Association for
the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher
Education (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking, Assess-
ment & Rating System (STARS).
USFs Bull Runner Transit System is free tostudents/faculty/staff on campus; Over one million
free rides are provided per year throughout the
campus, connecting neighborhoods around campus,
and to a HART station (Tampas Public Bus System).
Established in 1995, USFs Solar Energy Charging
Station is the first 20,000-watt solar charging
station in the United States.
Since 1990, USFs Physical Plant has operated an
extensive recycling program in which solids are
burned to generate electricity, scrap metal recycled,
and some food waste used as compost by the USF
Grounds department.
USF recycled over 48 tons of aluminum and over
9,700 tons of mixed paper from 1996 to 1997.

The year 2011 will mark the 41st
Earth Day Tampa Bay celebration.
This years festival will feature
exhibitors, demonstrations, arts and
crafts, community groups, live music,
food, and childrens activities all
aimed to help Tampa Bays residents
create a healthy and sustainable
lifestyle. Businesses will demonstrate
new products that will focus on ways
to go green, and nonprofit
organizations will be on site to
provide helpful information.
This annual event typically attracts
several thousand participants.
