Halogen Leadership Conference
As a part of the Winanga-Li Alliance our Stage 3
students have been invited to attend this leader-
ship conference in Sydney. This conference is ex-

ship potential.
Our year 5 and 6 students, together with year 5/6
from our alliance schools, would travel to Sydney by
bus on Sunday 10th March, attend the conference
on Monday and return on Monday night.
The cost is yet to be determined but would include
transport, I night’s accommodation , food and con-
ference.
Please complete the expression of interest and re-
turn ASAP so that organization can be finalized and
final costing available.
Touch Football
If your child is interested in playing Touch Football
on Monday afternoons, please let the school know
and return your note.
Science Unit - Living things This term, both classes will be studying Living Things in Science. The students were introduced to the new school pets this week - 5 Spiny Leaf In-sects. Some students were happier than others to meet them! The unit will focus on investigating different types of insects and their benefits to the environment. We are excited to learn more about our new pets!

Bective Carnivals– Swimming &
Athletics
As part of the Winanga-Li Small Schools Alliance
(Attunga, Duri, Curra, Somerton & Woolomin) we
are refining our practises to collaborate and build
strong relationships between our schools. As we are
all small schools we have decided that the Bective
Carnivals, both swimming and athletics, will be our
school carnivals. The competition is amongst all of
the small schools in the alliance and places will be
awarded accordingly. This will alleviate the need for
a second prize giving ceremony at our schools.
This will not affect Zone qualifications as these are
based times and distances.
If you would like to discuss this further please see
the Principal.
School Facebook Page
Our school Facebook page is Duri PS. We will be
putting up information from time to time that
might assist you and also posting photos of our stu-
dents activities at school.
Music
Our music teacher from The Con, Manduway, has been selected to be part of a nationwide tour with a prestigious Dance Troup. Consequently, he will not be available to teach his Conservatorium students in weeks 4, 5 and 6. Samara Redman will be replacing him during his absence.
General Assistant
This week we farewell Brett as our GA. He has done
a great job for many years ensuring the Duri school
grounds are always looking their best. We wish
Brett all the best for the future.
We welcome Wayne who will be taking over to en-
sure our grounds continue to look beautiful.
School Banking
Just a reminder that school banking day is Tuesday.
If your child would like to begin banking through the
school please visit your local Commonwealth
Branch to set up an account.
Senior Excursion
We are currently working on costing for the Term 2
Senior Excursion to the Gold Coast/Brisbane. Dates:
Mon 3rd June—Friday 7th June. It will be discussed
at the P&C meeting this week and a note will be
out shortly.
