WHO WE ARE

DMPMedia is a subsidiary company of Dennis Moss
Partnership (DMP), a multi-disciplinary practice
consisting of architects, urban designers, urban &
regional planners, landscape architects & interior
designers located in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Established in 1994 to initially provide an in-house
design and media service to DMP and the specific
needs of its clients, the department has grown into
DMP Media, a full service design & media studio
that specialises in the marketing and visualisation
within the property development market.
Although our emphasis is on architecture and
urban design visualisation, our skills cover a wide
spectrum of design work that includes graphic
design, corporate identity, branding, print media,
digital media, web design, copywriting.
It is this skills base, coupled together with our
experience in property marketing, that we have
managed to create a niche in today’s busy property
market for DMP and its clients.
We provide a high quality visual communication
service package that is all conveniently located
under the same roof as the architects, planners and
urban designers. This ensures a seamless process
from first pencil stroke to final product delivery.
The team works closely with the architects, urban
designers and planners during the design process,
which helps us create a good understanding of the
project and ensures that the final visuals are not only
architecturally accurate but visually pleasing.

One of DMPMedia’s strengths is the ability to create
a wide variety of architectural representations across
a host of different mediums and styles.
Representations range in anything from pencil
sketches to 3D computer generated photo realistic
renderings, although a combination of both is
generally used to create a fi nal product. The
team is constantly in close collaboration with the
architects and planners of Dennis Moss Partnership
to ensure that the creation of concept illustrations
and visualisations are as accurate as possible to the
proposed design.
3D sketches and illustrations can be created from
loose design concepts or plans and elevations.
Final presentations include montage images
with drawings and 3D models superimposed
into site photographs to create photo realistic
representations of the project. 3D models are
placed in the virtual globe program Google Earth
to help the client visualise and understand the
proposed development in context of its scale within
its environment.
These images are in turn used for presentation,
marketing, web sites, print media and advertising.

‘Giving life’ to an urban design master plan or
architectural plan is one of the most important
services we offer at DMPMedia. It is generally the
fi rst step undertaken in the project design process
and an important visual element for internal and
client use.
In the case of Eden Island (right), the master plan
was a very useful tool to help with marketing and
sales and for the building of the fi nal model.

Each project designed by the offi ce of Dennis
Moss Partnership recognises its place in context of
it’s environment. At DMPMedia we create visuals
that help with this process of understanding and
help explain in a graphic and visual manner how
developments or buildings fi t into their surroundings.
Two good example of how this is achieved are the
visuals prepared for Boschendal Estate and the
Jamestown Urban Renewal Project as shown on the
following pages.
With a detailed master plan having already been
prepared by DMPMedia, this is used as the base for
creating our visuals and represeantations.
PROVIDING CONTEXT
VISUALISATION
(1) The detailed urban design master plan is
placed in Google Earth, showing the design in
context of its surroundings.
(2) A 3D model of the proposed development is
built and rendered and superimposed over the
master plan in Google Earth, or as in this case, on
to an existing aerial photograph.
(3) From the above process we create atmospheric
stills that further enhance this visual experience.

Stellenbosch Municipality initiated an urban renewal
and development process for Jamestown as a whole
that would provide development opportunities
for existing land owners and that provided for
new extensions. The objective was to enhance the
qualitative dimension of Jamestown and to create
the conditions that would help put Jamestown on a
sustainable development path.
As part of the Jamestown development strategy, DMP
was commissioned by the municipality to assist them
in the preparation of an urban design framework
for a new extension of Jamestown that addresses
development context, various development scales
and dimensions such as environmental, (bio-physical
and energy) landscaping, architecture, urban design,
planning, and socio economic considerations.
The visuals on this spread form just a portion of
graphics, plans and rendered visuals that were
generated for a urban design guidelines report for
the Stellenbosch Municipality.

DMPMedia creates imagery that accurately portrays
the look and feel of an architectural project.
Working from concept sketches, 2D drawings, or
CADD fi les, a selection of various perspective layouts
and illustrations can be created in a wide contrasting
styles, ranging from black and white ‘atmospheric’
pencil sketches, to combining various illustration
techniques with 3D software to create more realistic
representations.

The Eden Island series of illustrations offers a
wonderful example of how the studio seamlessly
blends together the mediums of hand rendered
sketches and 3D rendering to create architecturally
accurate illustrations and representations.
As can be seen, the initial sketches done for the
marketing of Eden Island closely resemble the final
product that is currently being built.

Also known as photorealistic renderings, DMPMedia
uses 3D modelling and rendering software to create
realistic computer generated images of future
developments for the offi ce as well as clients. These
range from large-scale exterior models to more
intimate interior detailing.
These images are used across two platforms, fi rstly
to help with the internal architectural process and for
presentation and marketing purposes.
All renderings are created to the correct proportion
and scale - and well as utilising realistic textures,
materials, colours and fi nishes that will be used in the
development of the project.

Everything must have an identity and this identity is
often associated with a name, be it a person, place,
product or business. It is through this creation of an
identity that your brand is born.
Your brand is the fundamental framework of your
business, the starting point of the push to success.
It typifies your traditions and values and gives your
product an identity and sets the tone for positioning
and exposure in the market place.
It is an incredibly important and a never-ending
process through which long-lasting impression of
your business, product or service is created in the
minds of those that deal with it on an everyday basis
or those that are introduced to it for the first time.
At DMPMedia we understand the importance of
positioning our clients in an an already crowded
market place. We’ll help you identify what makes your
business work and express that across everything
your business does from logos to marketing
campaigns.

DMP Media is primarily responsible for the design
aspects of digital presentation material for DMP and
it’s clients. This includes printed material such as
documentation booklets, posters or digital material
for Powerpoint presentations. Although not always
considered the most exciting of mediums, it has
proven to be a very useful and effective tool for
marketing for clients and municipal and provincial
applications and public participations meetings.
Brochures are a common, affordable and effective
marketing tool and a useful way to distribute
information about your services or product.
They need to be creative, visually appealing and
interesting in order to focus users’ attention and
effectively deliver the message.
Our studio has the experience and skills to manage
all aspects of your brochure or booklet design to
suit your specifi c marketing needs.
