COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Election of council officers is quicklyapproaching. Section 128 of the Laws of theOrder indicates that officers are to be elected

by ballot at a regular business meeting heldbetween the fifteenth day of May to and includingthe fifteenth day of June.

Section 128 also states that college councils mayelect officers at a regular business meeting heldbetween the first day of March to and including thefirst day of June.

Immediately after the election of officers, thefinancial secretary should report the officers-elect tothe Supreme Council using the MemberManagement Application located in Officers Onlineon the Knights of Columbus web site or by using theReport of Officers Chosen for the Term (#185).

STATE CONVENTIONS

Have the councils in your district elected theirdelegates to their state convention? If thecouncil would like to submit a resolution to

the state council for consideration during theconvention, have they drafted the resolution,approved it by a vote of the council members andsent it to the state secretary? Have councils in yourdistrict completed and submitted the proper materialto the state program director for program awardconsideration? Please remind councils to completethese tasks quickly as time is running out.

SURGE WITH SERVICE KITS

As the Supreme Council advances itstechnological capabilities, we are pleased toinform you of the new way the Surge….with

Service kit will be delivered to the financial secretaryof councils in your district. In the past, financialsecretaries received 10 disks containing electroniccopies of publications associated with the Surge…with Service program. Those disks were distributedto council officers in order to download theinformation to their personal computers. In an effortto streamline the distribution process and allow allmembers access to the information associated withthe Surge…with Service program, the informationhas been posted on the Knights of Columbuswebsite. All council members should visitkofc.org/surge and review the information. Membershave the ability to download all of material on theweb page.

Prior to the start of the 2016-2017 fraternal year,financial secretaries will receive Surge “cards” todistribute to council officers. The cards indicateimportant web pages that members shouldfrequently visit throughout the year including theSurge…with Service web pages. Please alertcouncils in your district to be on the lookout for thesecards that are replacing the CD’s delivered in prioryears.
