Some people see a gap in the marketplace and shrug their shoul-ders. Others see a gap and think opportunity! Cropac was created in 1977 to fill the high need for cranes and lift truck equipment in the Ontario region. Soon after the launch, Bill Finkle Sr. purchased Cropac and started the company on its journey of success. Today, his son, Bill Finkle, is the president, and he couldnt be happier to continue the business legacy.

Fast forward 38 years. The crane company has expanded with branches in Quebec and Alberta. Inventory includes a full range of cranes for jobs of every size, locally or abroad. The company is the exclusive dealer across Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland for Taylor lift trucks; and across all of Canada, the authorized dealer for Terex and Mani-tex. Cropac also represents Tadano Mantis, Shuttlelift, Kobelco and Broderson in various Canadian regions.

Crane and lift trucks are also available for rent so clients can meet their obligations without purchasing new units, and the parts and service shop in all three locations keeps equipment running at peak efficiency. Of course, Cropacs early spirit of innovation still thrives today, which is why the company offers field technicians in fully equipped service vehicles that can meet you on the jobsite.

The first large deal Cropac was involved in was the sale of crawlers to a large Atlantic Canadian rental house. The equipment was used in a refinery expansion project. The successes kept flowing. These days, Cropac is proud to sell large-capacity Terex Demag crawlers, all terrain cranes and shuttlelift gantry cranes to prominent clients working on large-scale projects.

In 2015 rapid growth necessitated the move of the Alberta branch to a larger, state-of-the-art facility.

We are committed to Alberta for the long term and built the new facility to better meet our current needs. This facility has lots of room for future growth to better serve our growing client base, says Bill Finkle, president. The new facility has eight drive-thru crane bays with four overhead cranes, large wash bays and weld-ing facilities.

Despite rapid success and outstanding growth, Cropac retains the ideals that earned the company respect, admiration and custom-ers when it opened in 1977. The heavy equipment industry, especially cranes, is very capital intensive, Finkle continues. Having the right mix of inventory on hand is key to meeting our clients needs and that is what sets us apart from our competition.

growing up and worked part time during her high school years. She joined the company full time in 1986, starting in the accounting de-partment. She is currently our office manager in the head office in Oakville. I could not ask for a more loyal or hardworking employee!

Finkle has learned many things over the years, and hes happy to share his wisdom. Great leaders recognize the areas where they are strong and the areas where they need help, he says.
