Types of BreaksBreak Type Description
Page break Inserts a hard page break to end a page
Column break Ends a column and moves to the next column
Text wrapping break Separate text around objects on Web pages
Next page break Ends the section and inserts a hard page break
Continuous break Ends the section but remains on the same page
Even page break Ends the section, inserts a hard page, and moves text to the next even page
Odd page break Ends the section, inserts a hard page, and moves text to the next odd page

Summary
• Word provides tools for breaking text into multiple columns
• Once columns are created, they can be customized in a number of ways
• Section breaks allow you to format parts of the same document or page separately from the rest of the document or page
• Word allows you to emphasize text, paragraphs and documents with borders, shading and special effects
• Tabs help you align data in tabular format
