Massive number of courses offered abroad—this system allows for the University to be proactive with respect to articulating the coursework before departure
Registrar’s Office is developing a Database of “Pre-Approved” courses but must always re-examine how it has counted for one student vs. another depending on student needs—FLEXIBILITY IS KEY!
A formal email process was developed for students to acquire approval once abroad and they wouldn’t be able to acquire physical signatures
Center for Global Education
Successes:Students know before departure how study abroad/exchanges fit into their program of study and how courses will fulfill graduation requirements—NO guessing!Faculty and Registrar’s have oversight and “veto power”—academic standards are maintainedCGE has more participants because we have removed the obstacles and uncertainty about courses fulfilling graduation requirements
Center for Global Education
TranscriptsCGE receives transcripts from abroad; all courses taken for letter gradeCGE reviews APF and actual courses taken; students notified via email if courses were taken abroad that were not pre-approved ;Paperwork submitted to Registrar’s OfficeRO processes transcript; translates grades and feeds into program evaluation
