Dear Members:
Happy New Year! Is it spring yet? Unfortunately, we all know that the answer
to this question is “No”. However, cold days and long nights give each of us
ample opportunity to think about how we can improve ourselves and our busi-
nesses from the previous year. It provides us with time to set goals that we
refer to as New Year resolutions. Many of us, myself included, usually fall
back into our routines from years past and in a blink of an eye 2015 will be
upon us. Hopefully, this year will be different and we each find a way to break
the mold of years past, stay committed to our resolutions and make 2014 a
happy, healthy and “productive” year.
On Thursday, January 30, 2014, the Rhinebeck Area Chamber of Commerce
will host the Annual State of Rhinebeck Dinner and Good Egg Award. This
event gives our membership an opportunity to hear from our elected officials
regarding the state of Rhinebeck and the surrounding areas. I am hopeful that
they will also share with our members their own resolutions as to how local,
county, and state government will help to provide a better environment for our
businesses to grow, be more productive, and more profitable.
Perhaps the most important part of the Annual State of Rhinebeck Dinner is the
Good Egg Award. This award recognizes an individual who goes above and
beyond to serve our community. The Good Egg is selfless. He/She devotes
their time and energy to better this community, not because it will translate into
a financial reward or because it is the popular thing to do, but because it is the
right thing to do. They care deeply for this community and their fellow citi-
zens. I hope that you are able to attend this event so that we can hear from our
elected officials, but more importantly, honor this year’s Good Egg Award
Recipient.
Very truly yours,
Sean Kemp
