Naughty Dog are no strangers to developing high-end games – originally the Crash Bandicoot series and, in more recent years, the multi award-winning Uncharted™ series. Proving that they’ve got platformers and action games under their collective belts, the studio is now looking to take on the action-adventure/horror genre with The Last of Us.Taking place some years in the future, The Last of Us sees players take on the role of Joel, a black market dealer who runs weapons and drugs into the quarantined zones of a USA that’s been ravaged by a killer fungus. This fungus doesn’t just kill those it infects, however – it raises them from death and causes them to behave in a manner all gamers will recognise as zombie-like. Cool, we know this genre, but Naughty Dog aims to take it to the next level with cutting-edge enemy AI, a brutal and dynamic combat system, and a strong focus on scavenging to survive.Joining Joel will be the young lady Ellie who is AI controlled and will help Joel in puzzle solving, level traversal and occasionally combat. The player

will have to use their wits to get through the massive game world that spans multiple cities across The States, and dealing with enemies isn’t simply a matter of pointing a gun and shooting. Weapons and ammo are a rarity in the wastelands, and players will need to make use of the crafting system to upgrade weapons and build makeshift ones to turn the favour of battle. The enemies that you’ll face in your travels are numerous and varied. As you’d expect, the infected are the biggest threat, and come in an assortment of types including the blind Clickers, who can only detect you through sound, and the furious Runners, who have the tendency to charge first and ask questions never. Joel and Ellie will also have to deal with those human survivors who have turned a little crazy in this taxing world, and will challenge the player with their dynamic AI that adjusts enemy bravado (and with it, their likelihood of attacking or retreating) based on events as they happen.

GET THE DIGITAL SURVIVAL KITSpecial customisable items for your multiplayer character. In-game currency to buy boosters, customisable parts & other items for multi-player characters. Get bonus experience points, a powerful melee attack booster and two bonus skins for Joel & Ellie. T’s & C’s apply.

Obviously this was an enormously helpful game mechanic and one that could often mean the difference between coming first or dead last. The

rewind mechanic will make a return in Grid 2, which means the petrol head perfectionists will be able to shave off those valuable seconds in

pursuit of perfect lap times. The game will include multiple tracks from three different parts of the

world: Asia, North America and Europe. While Grid 2 won’t boast the largest collection of digital cars in a racing game to date, the developers

have picked an eclectic mix designed to showcase the best that each vehicle class has to offer. What’s more, their choice of cars will include

vehicles from the last fourty years, including classics like the BMW E30 M3 to the more contemporary and outlandish Pagani Huayra.

Grid 2 will feature three game modes: Street Racing, Road Racing and Track Racing. An entirely separate multiplayer mode is also being

developed to make use of Codemasters’ Racenet online service.

Back in 2008, Codemasters released Race Driver: Grid – it was part of the TOCA Touring Car series. It went on to win multiple Racing Game of the Year awards, as well as a BAFTA award in the Sports Game category for 2009. Needless to say, the game was a success, so it’s surprising that a

follow-up title has taken this long to get to us.Grid 2 is the sequel that fans have been clamouring for. Featuring an

updated EGO 3.0 engine, the game boasts improved visuals and a higher fidelity when it comes to crash physics and car damage. Built

to be an arcade racer at heart, Grid 2 has been programmed with the all new TrueFeel™ Handling system designed to give the cars a realistic,

simulation-type feel in terms of handling, but without sacrificing the accessible qualities of an arcade racer. TrueFeel™, according to

Codemasters, will hit that “sweet spot” between a hardcore racing simulator and a fast-paced arcade racer.

The original Grid introduced the Flashback Rewind mechanic, which allowed players to rewind any mistake with just a press of a button.

The Lost Planet series has had a bit of a mixed past. The first game introduced players to the icy and dangerous planet known as EDN III during the height of a war between mankind and the native Akrid. The second game continued that story but lost focus, turning the series into a squad-based shooter that suffered from myriad technical and gameplay issues. Lost Planet 3 is set to turn back the clock – right the way back to the beginning of the story – and refocuses the gameplay to that of a more traditional shooter. In Lost Planet 3, players will take on the role of Joe, an ordinary guy who’s come to EDN III to lend his construction skills to the colonisation effort. This is a prequel to the first Lost Planet, which means the war between man and Akrid has barely begun and the planet is still frozen over. The colonists who are already stationed on the planet aren’t soldiers, they’re engineers, and Joe will have to make use of the basic weaponry and his 30-foot tall robotic Rig to deal with the menace and keep the colonisation

efforts alive. Rigs are the predecessors of the previous games’ Vital Suits and, while less equipped for combat, have a much stronger presence in Lost Planet 3 thanks to their hulking size and new first-person perspective that should give any fans of the MechWarrior series a dose of nostalgia. For the first time in the series, Lost Planet 3 will feature a strong focus on storytelling and characterisation. Joe isn’t a meathead grunt with more ammunition than brain cells, but he knows his way around weapons and isn’t afraid to deal with the Akrid with force. But there will be a fair bit of non-combat gameplay, too. When back at the base camp, Joe can freely walk around, chatting to other colonists and learning more about the game world. He can also take on optional side-quests for extra rewards like alternate ammo types, weapon upgrades and T-energy – the driving force behind operations on EDN III and a functioning currency for weapon purchases and upgrades.

will form one of the game’s main gameplay mechanics, and you’ll be able to make adjustments to scenes and watch your alterations play out. Once

you’re happy with the outcome, you can finalise your changes and have the effects of the altered memory affect the character in the game.

Remember Me will feature an incredibly robust combo system that will allow players to develop their own combo strings via the game’s

“Combo Lab”. As Nilin progresses through the story and begins to recover fragments of her memory, new combos (or Pressens as they’re called in Remember Me) will unlock. There are four families of Pressens, and each

family allows Nilin to bring something else to the fight such as being able to regenerate health or duplicate the previous combo string with

amplified damage. You’ll be able to have four active combos at any given time, and you’ll be able to modify each of them to better suit your play

style. In total, Remember Me has around 50, 000 possible combos to mix and match.

Set in a cyberpunk Neo-Paris in the year 2084, you play as Nilin – a “Memory Hunter”. Nilin is highly trained in the art of scrambling targets’

memories in order to alter their actions. In some instances, memory scrambling can be severe enough to cause the target to commit suicide.

As the game opens, Nilin finds herself in the Bastille Prison with her own memory very recently erased. The corporation that she used to work for

has taken it upon themselves to neutralize her and shut her away. The plot will see Nilin trying to piece her memory back together and find out

why her once employers want her removed.Every person in Neo-Paris is equipped with a Sensation Engine implant,

which allows people to digitally record their memories and trade them like commodities. This “Sensen” implant provides Nilin a means of

accessing people’s minds to alter their memories. Once inside a target’s mind, Nilin is able to manipulate key elements of a particular memory so that the outcome of that memory is fundamentally altered. This process

World War II games were long the domain of first-person shooters, but when the first Company of Heroes came along it proved that the real-time strategy genre is just as capable of telling a story of war, hardships and people. Company of Heroes 2 is set to continue that show and raise the bar even higher with its powerful new technology and focus on the deadliest theatre of war this planet has ever witnessed: The Eastern Front.Players will take control of the Soviet Red Army as they attempt to repel Nazi forces advancing into Soviet Russia in 1941. But this front is unlike any we’ve seen before: its harsh weather conditions make for an enemy just as lethal as the Germans courtesy of Relic’s ColdTech system. Snow falls to the battlefield, obscuring vision and preventing aerial support. It also piles up on the ground, on vehicles and buildings. It dynamically changes the battlefield, hiding footprints in the snow and forcing your men to seek the relative warmth of fire, nearby buildings or troop transport vehicles. Leave your soldiers

outside in the elements for too long and they’ll freeze to death, and when a blizzard blows through you’ll have just minutes to get them to safety before Mother Nature brings a premature end to your campaign. Many gameplay advancements have also been made since the first Company of Heroes. Courtesy of the TrueSight system, players can now only see exactly what their troops can see. Use this to ambush unsuspecting enemies (perhaps those who have followed your trail in the snow) by hiding among the trees or buildings, but be wary: savvy players will know to listen for enemies who are out of sight – your troops’ hearing range isn’t obscured by that which blocks line-of-sight.And, of course, the series’ signature multiplayer mode will make a return, supporting up to eight players in massive 4v4 battles. New units and an increased focus on tank warfare, as well as the ever-present weather challenges, should make for an experience even more exciting than that of the first game.

When mercenary group Overstrike 9 was dispatched to a secret government facility to stop the rival PMC Raven from getting their hands on experimental alien technology, they couldn’t help themselves to poke their heads in and see just what it was they were sent to safeguard. What they found was Fuse – an alien material that, when combined with other elements, can be used to create powerful fringe technology that turns Overstrike 9 into near super-humans.Playable solo or with up to four players, Fuse is a squad-based action game that isn’t afraid to push through into the bounds of science fiction. Each of the four members of Overstrike 9 has taken to a particular Fuse weapon, giving them unique abilities that can be upgraded throughout the campaign and multiplayer modes. These Fuse weapons are leader Dalton Brooks’ Magshield, which combines Fuse with melanite and can repel enemy projectiles while protecting allies behind it; Izzy Sinclair’s Crowd-Controlling Shattergun, which can freeze enemies in place; former LAPD detective Jacob Kimble’s Sniper Rifle-like Arcshot Crossbow; and Naya Deveraux’s Antimatter-based Warp Rifle, which is capable of generating black holes at the point of impact, as well as lending Naya a personal cloaking field for up-close melee take-downs.

Better late than never, right? 2011’s reboot of the Mortal Kombat series (making it the ninth game in the franchise), is coming to PC. Mortal Kombat released to exceptional critical and fan reception. It allowed older gamers to relive the classic Mortal Kombat action set on a 2D fighting plane, and introduced throngs of new players to fatalities and the series’ staple over-the-top violence.New to the reboot was the addition of a three tiered “super meter” that allowed you to perform stronger variants of each character’s special moves, or execute a powerful combo-breaker. Allowing the super metre to charge all the way to the top grants players access to their character’s x-ray move: a bone cracking combo that deals enough damage to turn the tide in any fight. We’re hoping for the Game of the Year Edition which will hopefully come packed with all of the add-on fighters that were released as DLC during the months after the original game released on consoles. That could mean access to Skarlet, Rain, Kenshi and A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Kruger. character. On top of the four extra DLC characters, the game could include also all of the “Klassic” skins for each character in the game.

It’s been a year since the events of Metro 2033. The icy wastes of Moscow are starting to thaw as the radioactive clouds let through the first glimmers of sunlight. But the surface is scarred: mutants twisted by the radiation roam the lands, and below ground, in the seemingly endless network of tunnels of the Moscow Metro, the war for power rages on.Metro: Last Light will see the return of 2033’s somewhat reluctant hero Artyom. Now a little older and wiser, Artyom will attempt to bring peace to the Metro and try to stop a powerful doomsday device from reaching the wrong hands. With a civil war bubbling up in the tunnels, Artyom will need to make use of his stealth and combat skills to engage those who would do him harm, and players will see a return of the first game’s much-loved hand-made aesthetic that flows through the weaponry and day-to-day life of those who live within the city’s labyrinths. Expect a dark, cruel world filled with desperation and horror; this is a thinking person’s FPS that will appeal to any fans of The Chronicles of Riddick or even the Half-Life series.

Resident Evil Revelations wowed gamers with its original release on the 3DS. It was a return to form of sorts, albeit scaled down and a little difficult to

control, but filled with classic Resident Evil moments and impressive visuals for the platform. Now, as a part of Capcom’s plans to bring back the Resident Evil series to what it once was, they are updating

and porting Revelations to the big consoles and PC. If you’ve felt disappointed by the Resident Evil series lately, this is the one to change your

mind. Revelations takes place between the events of Resident Evil 4 and 5, and puts players in control of series favourites Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield in two campaigns featuring the bio-terrorist organisation Il Veltro (The Greyhound) which has unleashed

a bio-organic weapons attack on the world. Perhaps not coincidentally, the gameplay of Revelations also falls between that of Resident Evil 4 and 5, with plenty

of spine-chilling moments walking down terrifying corridors mixed together with intense action-packed scenarios. As an added bonus, the console release will

also feature the Raid Mode mini-game: a horde-like competitive mode with extra characters and challenges, as well as powerful high-level weapons.

Might & Magic Heroes VI came out in October 2011 to positive critical reception. Now, nearly two years later, Ubisoft is poised

to combine the original game, both of it’s Adventure Packs and the yet-to-be-released stand-alone expansion Shades

of Darkness into one complete edition. The Might & Magic VI: Complete Edition is the definitive version of this acclaimed RPG turn-based strategy game that has become synonymous with

rich fantasy lore, varied factions and challenging gameplay. This new premium edition contains more than 120 hours of

campaign gameplay split across six different factions with 42 upgradable units.

The stand-alone expansion pack, Shades of Darkness, brings two entirely new campaigns to the game; one focusing on the

Necromancers of Necropolis and the other on the new playable faction, the Dark Elves of Dungeon as they attempt to master the shadows and tame Black Dragons. Shades of Darkness is the long-awaited conclusion

to 2011’s Might & Magic Heroes VI. Set in the fantasy realm of Ashan, Might & Magic Heroes VI puts players in charge of numerous factions

and heroes. Exploring massive world maps, levelling hero characters, procuring resources, building cities and training troops for conquests

are all part of this epic fantasy strategy game.

It is a time of strife and unrest. Armies of revenants and dark spirits manifest in every corner of Tamriel. Winters grow colder and crops fail. Mystics are plagued by nightmares and portents of doom.

Four years ago, in 2E 578, an arcane explosion of energy in the Imperial City set off mystical aftershocks that swept across Nirn. Mages died or went mad. Supernatural abominations from the plane of Oblivion, the Daedra, appeared in greater numbers than ever before.

The Constellation of the Serpent grew so large that it dominated the night sky.

So began the grand scheme of Molag Bal, Daedric Prince of domination and enslavement. His Dark Anchors, vortexes of evil magic, weaken the barrier between worlds, threatening to merge Nirn and Oblivion into a single, nightmarish hellscape.

In the midst of this chaos, three alliances vie for control of the Imperial City and the White-Gold Tower. High Rock, Sentinel, and Orsinium stand as one, united under the rule of the High King in Wayrest under the name The Daggerfall Covenant.

Valenwood and Elsweyr have forged an alliance of their own with Summerset under the name The Aldmeri Dominion. Black Marsh, Morrowind, and Skyrim have formed a third, uneasy pact; The Ebonheart Pact.

Three armies will take up arms against the Empire, and against each other, to wrest control of the Imperial City and White-Gold Tower from the dark forces of Oblivion itself. Where do your loyalties lie?
