Cost for Management
Cost management systems are basic transaction reporting systems.
As they develop into the second stage, cost management
systems focus on external financial reporting. The
objective is reliable financial reports; accordingly, the usefulness for cost management is limited.
Cost management systems track key operating data and
develop more accurate and relevant cost information for
decision making; cost management information is developed.
Strategically relevant cost management information is an integral part of the system.

Value Chain Analysis
Value activities are activities that firms in the industry must
perform in the process of converting raw material to final product, including customer service
Value chain analysis has 2 step:
Step 1 Identify the Value chain activities
Identify the specific value activities that firms in the industry must
perform in the processes of designing, manufacturing, and providing customer service.
Step 2 Develop a competitive advantage by reducing cost or adding value
The firm determines the nature of its current and potential competitive
advantage by studying the value activities and cost drivers identified earlier.
1. Identify competitive advantage.
2. Identify opportunities for added value.
3. Identify opportunities for reduced cost.
4. Exploit linkages among activities in the value chain.

Summary
The first, SWOT analysis helps management tot implement
strategy by providing a system and structure in which to
identify the organization’s critical success factors. The
second, CSFs is a management focus on making priorities
and achieving. The third, Value chain analysis helps
management to implement strategy by breaking the firm or
organization down into a sequence of value providing
activities; management can identify the CSFs at each step in
the value chain and ask the question, How do we add value
at this step in the value chain? The final step, the BSC helps
management to measure progress to strategic goals and to
align employee performance efforts, incentives, and rewards to these strategy goals.
