The whale shark is a slow-moving filter feeding shark

Diet: whale sharks feed on tiny plankton, small fish, and crustaceans (carnivore)

Lifespan: a whale shark can live up to the age of 30 years.

Where does it live?The whale shark is found in warm seas about 30º north and south of the Equator. It inhabits deep water and shallow coastal seas as well as coral reefs.

Size: the whale shark is the biggest fish in the world, it can grow up to 12m long and weighs 10 tonnes.

kelpFacts: kelp is seaweed which can be used to make toothpastes, shampoos, salad dressings, puddings, cakes, dairy products, frozen foods, and can be used for medicines.

Where does kelp grow?Kelp grows in the Pacific Coast, Alaska, Canada and the waters of Baja, California.
