The first attempts were effort to fly like a bird. First they tried to attach feathers to their arms flapping, then they made a hot air balloon during the civil war hot air ballons were used by the armies to look at enemy troops.

The first airplane that was flown was glider, and very hard to use. Early gliders were launched from high places like cliffs

and floated on the wind to the ground.In 1890 the inventor “Hiram Maxiam”, built a

steam powered flying machine and he tested it. In 1909, Wright brothers can tract from the military to build the first military plane.

Airplanes now travel thousands of miles at altitudes of more than 7 miles, carrying over 300 passengers.
