Paraphrasing…

A good paraphrase should

• have the same meaning as the original• but not sound like the original• only have 3-4 words the same as the original

Paraphrasing is not easy…it takes practice!

Read the original carefully

Close the book/screen window while you write your own explanation

Check your sentence against the original

Cite the source

-You get expelled (yes it has happened at our school!)

-Your academic reputation suffers

-You won’t get into any other good schools

you’re not learning &

thinking for yourself
