5EMA hilo system, and EA Idea

Firstofall,IwanttothankSterlingforintroducingmetothe5mahilochannelsystem.Ihavechangedafewthings,moretomystyle,andcomfortlevel,andwithlessrisk.

Theideaistoputa5emahigh,anda5emalowonachart,anytimeframeyouwant,andthisformsachannel.Whenpricemovesoutofthechannel,welookforcandlesfullyormostlyoutsidethechannel.Iprefersmallrangecandlesandnottoenterthetradeifthesetupcandlegoeshalfwayintothechannel...weneedroomforittomove.Abreakofthatcandleintheopositedirectiontriggersanentry.Stoplosswouldbe1pipaboveorbelowthesetupcandle.Profittakingisupfordiscretion,butusuallyitatleastreachestheoppositechannel.Ifcountertrendingonemightthentakefullprofits,iftrendtradingpartialprofitscouldbetakenwithSLsettobreakeven.aslongascandlesgointheprofitdirection,stayinthetrade,onceareversecandle,orsetupismade,thenclosethetradeandreversewithpropersignal.Ilookforfollowthroughandmomentum.Ifafter2or3barsyou'restillnotinprofit,itmightbeagoodideatoexitbeforeyourSLgetshit.Inmostcasesyou'llseefollowthroughonthenextcandleafterentry.

Ihavefoundthatwhilenoteverytradeisprofitable,thatmanyare,especiallywhenwelookforcandlesoutsideofthemediumrange,preferablysmallrangecandles,atthetoporbottomofaswing,soourSLissmaller.Alsotherearetimeswhenthissystemworksgreat,andothertimesinextremetrends,ortightrangesitdoesn't,butIhavethisideathatsomeonewithgoodcodingabilityandpeoplesideasforprofitabilitythatfinallyaprofitableEAcouldbecoded.Anytakers?I'mnotacoderyet,althoughI'mevertemptedtolearn.

I'mstillverymuchinterestedinthissystem,butIalsoconsiderthatthereareotherviablereasonstoentertrades,liketrendlinebreaks,S/Rbreaks,and60emabreaks,asortoffloatingS/Rline.Thekeyalsoseemstobethatitsnotasignalunlessthehighorlowofthesetupbararebroken.Thepresenceofdivergenceseemstomakeitabettersignalbutnotalwaysnecessary.TakingprofitsisdiscretionarybutaminimumTPlevelseemstobeatouchoftheopposite5emahilochannel.Idon'ttakethisasastandalonesystem,butaddittomytoolsoftradingtogivemethatedge.LetsrevivethisthreadandupdaterealtimeSetups.

I'vebeentryingtogetsomethingalongtheselinestoworkonRenkochartsratherthantimebasedcharts.Theintentwouldbemoretowardstradingwiththechannelinthedirectionofthetrendandusingtheouterchannelasthetrailingstop.TodayIwastryingasimpleMAcrossoverEAonRenkobuttheBuyandSellordersdon'texecutewhentheconditionsaremet.Averysimplesystem,anditworksfineontimebasedcharts.Itjustwon'tcooperatewhenappliedtotheRenkocharts.

I'mrunningthe"RenkoLiveChart"EAona5mintimebasedcharttocreatetheRenkochartusingtheEURUSD,M2offlinechart(File>OpenOffline)andthenapplythe"MovingAverage"EAtotheRenkochartdirectly.TheRenkochartupdatesinrealtimejustfine.Itjustwon'texecuteanyoftheMovingAverageEAtrades.
