Tonight’s Honoree
Thomas P. DiNapoli is the 54th Comptroller of the State of New York.
The Early Years A life-long Long Islander, Tom was raised in a middle-class, union household and saw the value of hard work and stretching every dollar in the example set by his parents. In 1972, Tom won his first election and served as a trustee on the Mineola Board of Education, becoming the first 18-year-old in New York State to hold public office. He attended Hofstra University, earning a bachelor’s degree in history and graduated magna cum laude in 1976. He worked in the telecommunications industry for 10 years, and went to night classes and earned a master’s degree from The New School University’s Graduate School of Management and Urban Professions.
Public Service In 1986, he ran for the New York State Assembly and was elected to represent the 16th District in northwestern Nassau County for the next 20 years. Tom was elected State Comptroller on February 7, 2007, by a bipartisan majority of the State Legislature. He was elected Comptroller by New York’s voters in 2010, 2014 and 2018. Tom is known for his integrity, independence and even-keeled leadership.
Record of Accomplishments• Identified billions in waste, fraud and cost savings
in government.• Uncovered corruption in State and local
governments, leading to dozens of arrests and tens of millions in restitution.
• Provided robust oversight of school district operations and education spending. He has charged his auditors with examining school safety practices, reviewing programs to protect children from harassment and discrimination, monitoring special education providers, and identifying best practices to help schools around the state.
• Developed an early warning system to identify municipalities and school districts showing signs of fiscal stress.
• Managed the third largest public pension fund in the nation through difficult losses during the Great Recession, reformed how it operates and received high praise for industry leading standards.
• Invested nearly $2 billion in private equity and loan programs to benefit New York-based businesses and provide a return to the State pension fund.
• Earned a reputation as one of the leading shareholder voices on many corporate concerns including environmental issues, disability inclusion and corporate political spending.
• Opened up government spending on his transparency website Open Book New York.
• Led the fight for prudent fiscal and procurement reforms to help New York change how it does business and put it on better fiscal footing.
• Streamlined claims process for individuals to recover lost money. Returned $430 million in unclaimed funds to owners in State Fiscal Year 2018-2019.

Tonight’s Honoree
Ana O’Gorman was born in El Savador and came to the United States and worked in the private sector; restaurants and factories until she found a job with Nassau County at Holly Patterson Geriatric Center from 1988- 1990. She then got transferred to Nassau Community College in the Physical Plant Department. In 2005, she became involved in the union thanks to NCC/ CSEA Unit President. She was then asked to become a shop steward and at the same time CSEA Local 830 President Jerry Laricchiuta invite her to work at CSEA Local 830 office to learn everything about the union and help the members especially those who spoke Spanish. Ana became involved in Region 1’s Health & Safety committee to learn how to protect the members and herself from all of the potential hazards on work sites. Jerry then asked Ana to run on his team as one of his Delegates, next as one of the Vice Presidents and after that she made the decision to run for a Unit President at Nassau Community College. This is now her second term representing almost 500 members from custodians, laborers, electricians, plumbers, maintenance mechanics, HVAC, clerical staff, nurses, accounts, IT, Librarian Assistance, lifeguards and Public Safety. She is also a Grievance Representative and a CSEA Local 830 Women Committee Chair.
She is a proud union member and activist with the sole purpose to serve her members with honesty and integrity. Ana is a mother of 2 children and a grandmother of 4 grandchildren.

Joseph Moscola
Senior Vice President And Chief People Officer
Northwell Health
Joseph Moscola is the Senior Vice President & Chief People Officer for Northwell Health. Northwell Health is New York State’s largest health care provider and private employer. With 23 hospitals and nearly 750+ outpatient facilities, Northwell Health serves 8 million people in the metro New York area and beyond. Their 72,000+ employees work to change health care for the better. Mr. Moscola has held a number of positions throughout the system, most recently as Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Ambulatory Operations. In that role, he led operations for the $1.1 billion business, which included Ambulatory Services, working with the clinical and administrative service line leadership, Northwell Health Physician Partners leadership, and Clinical Joint Ventures. During his tenure, Mr. Moscola helped
the Northwell Health Physician Partners achieve a “silver level of distinction” from the Regional Baldrige Performance Excellence Committee. He has also been responsible for leading efforts to successfully integrate several clinical joint ventures, most notably Northwell’s GoHealth Urgent Care Facilities. He began his career as a Physician Assistant in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He later transitioned to an administrative career, serving as administrative director for neuroscience at Southside Hospital, and then senior administrative director of neurology and neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital at LIJ Medical Center. Previously, Mr. Moscola served as director of health systems operations, where he helped plan and implement strategic programs across the organization. In his current role, Mr. Moscola launched FlexStaff, a comprehensive system-wide contingent staffing organization filling the temporary needs for Northwell Health, employing thousands of employees. Due to its success, in 2019 FlexStaff expanded their business model to bring the same level of excellence to external companies by providing temporary and direct hire services throughout the great New York Metropolitan area. Mr. Moscola has spearheaded a new direct-to-employer business, Northwell Direct, to monetize and customize network, health and wellness services for employers in the
New York metropolitan market, to meet a wide variety of business and workforce needs. He has also lead the team responsible for Northwell Health being awarded, for the first time, as a Fortune 100 Best Company to Work in 2020 as well as numerous distinction for Diversity and Inclusion. Mr. Moscola received a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University an MBA from Adelphi University, a physician assistant certificate from Catholic Medical Centers-Bayley Seton Campus, and is a graduated Fellow of the Health Management Academy. He serves on the Board of Directors for Farmingdale College and Nassau Community College and is a Trustee of the 1199 Pension Fund serving employees for the New York Region.

Nassau Community College Foundation Mission: The purpose of the Foundation as outlined in its Certificate of Incorporation is to receive, hold, invest, and administer gifts and donations for Nassau Community College as well as its students and faculty. Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to fundraising and the distribution of those funds in support of student scholarship opportunities as well as growing our academic programs.
