REMARKS.
During the last year no ease of infectious illness appeared in the Pentridge' Penal Establishment. There' was no capital operation. Only one case of insanity was sent to the lunatic asylum: previous to his being sent there he attempted suicide. Accidents were all slight. '. '
The cases of illness treated in hospital (internal) were fewer than in 1875. The cases treated outside the hospital (external) were also fewer than in 1875. .
There were nine deaths in hospital :-One from urethral fever; on,! from apoplexy; one from heart disease; one from blood poisoning, a re~ult of diseased knee·joint; five from dise&!ed lungs, Two of those five arrived here in the last stage of pulmonary cons~ption.

REMARKS.
In the Gaol, the complaints during the year 1876 were, nearly all, those of old· age or of shattered constitutions. I had one cilse of scarlatina, but the disease did not spread.
