Effective Monday, July 2, 2018, South Carolina will transition to using WIN Learning’s Ready toWork assessments as the state-sponsored career readiness training, assessment and credentialing program.

South Carolina will use three state-branded South Carolina Ready to Work Assessments (AppliedMathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information) to measure foundational career readinessSkills and qualify program participants for the new state-sponsored South Carolina Ready to WorkCredential. In addition, theWIN Learning solution includes an Essential Soft Skills assessment that measuresfoundational employability skills that are in-demand by South Carolina employers, including communicatingeffectively, conveying professionalism, promoting teamwork and collaboration, and thinking critically andsolving problems. This robust tool will also be available through the education and workforce system at nocost to job seekers or employers.

Employers currently using the ACT WorkKeys® assessments (Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, andWorkplace Documents) can continue to use those assessments. However, because theWorkKeys® assessmentsare no longer part of the state-sponsored program, most individual job seekers will have to pay the cost for theACT WorkKeys® Assessments (unless the employer/potential employer chooses to pay).

SUPPORTIVE SERVICES

The Youth Program helps prepare young adults (ages 17 to 24) for college or a career. This program

provides career pathways, credential attainment, and supportive services to young adults who may face barriers

to employment. Through local partnerships, participants gain hands-on work experience. They also develop

academic, career, and life skills that lead to lifelong success.

The adult program is focused on leading participants (25 years and above) to careers that provide

sustainable living wages, so participants can in turn provide for themselves and their families. This program

fully aligns with the 2015 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

Call (843) 832-6249 for additional information.
