Consider your own classes

As a group – discuss the 1 child in your experience you felt would have benefitted most from edification and encouragement.

Share with your group if you can why working with child was especially difficult.

As a group, choose 1 case from the experiences members shared.

brainstorm ways in which tutors could have reached out to the child and let him/her know that they mattered.

Consider especially how that particular child could have been edified and encouraged.

On your mahjong paper – please put down your joint thoughts.

We have some time for a gallery walk – please stay by your flipchart and share your thoughts with the groups I randomly assign.

Takeaways

I hope this short talk/cum workshop has helped you see yourself in new light and how some ways of being and doing can also help children in your classes feel like they are worthy and their thoughts and feelings are valued

Necessary especially for our children who may be exhibiting self doubt/poor self esteem.

Our approach may be the one way we can help them see themselves in another light.
