Do you think there’s a hidden treasure in his house?” asked Kayla. “Let’s go see,” Mike suggested as they hurried from the museum. “Grandpa, we think your house has a hidden treasure. Can we look for it?” asked Mike, when his grandpa came to the door. “Sure.” Grandpa smiled. “But only if you’ll let me help.” They looked in every room of the house, but there was no symbol and no hidden treasure. “Let’s try the attic,” suggested Grandpa. “Maybe the treasure is up there.” They looked in every corner of the attic. No symbol. No hidden treasure. “I’m tired,” groaned Mike as he headed toward the stairs. “Maybe I was wrong about that symbol. Why would there be a hidden treasure in your house, anyway?” “Wait!” said Kayla. “Look at that brick at the bottom of the chimney! Isn’t that a symbol? Maybe the treasure is hidden in the chimney!” Mike pulled on the brick, and it moved a little. Suddenly, part of the wall slid open, showing the top of a staircase. “Wow,” whispered Mike as they peered into the dark passage. “I wonder if there really is a treasure down there.” “There’s only one way to find out!” said Kayla as she bounded down the staircase. “I think I’ve seen something like that before,” whispered Mike to Kayla. “It was at my grandpa’s house.”

“No way! Do you think there’s a hidden treasure in his house?” asked Kayla.

“Grandpa, we think your house has a hidden treasure. Can we look for it?” asked Mike, when his grandpa came to the door.

“Sure.” Grandpa smiled. “But only if you’ll let me help.”

They looked in every room of the house, but there was no symbol and no hidden treasure.

“Let’s try the attic,” suggested Grandpa. “Maybe the treasure is up there.”

They looked in every corner of the attic. No symbol. No hidden treasure.

“I’m tired,” groaned Mike as he headed toward the stairs. “Maybe I was wrong about that symbol. Why would there be a hidden treasure in your house, anyway?”
