1.0 Introduction
Sunway-TES Sdn. Bhd. (Sunway-TES), a subsidiary of Sunway College, was incorporated in
1994. „TES‟ stands for Mr. Teo Ee Sing, the Executive Director of Sunway-TES and a
Member of the Board of Directors. The main focus of Sunway-TES is the provision of
professional accounting and financial programmes. Sunway-TES offered the Association of
Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Qualification since 1994, the Certified Accounting
Technician (CAT) since 1998, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
(ICAEW) qualification since 2004, the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification in 2009,
the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA)/ICAA (Institute of
Chartered Accountants Australia Joint Programme) since 2010, Chartered Institute of
Management Accountants (CIMA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Both CAT and
ACCA programmes have obtained full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications
Agency (MQA).
It is to be noted that Sunway-TES also provides the academic support for the collaboration
between the ACCA and the Oxford Brookes University (OBU) in United Kingdom. This
collaboration enables ACCA students to be awarded the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in
Applied Accounting on the successful completion of a supervised project report. The project
report can be initiated on completion of the Skills Module of ACCA Qualification.
The objectives of this Handbook are to provide CAT and ACCA students with (a) a
background of Sunway-TES (b) main features of CAT and ACCA programmes to facilitate
administrative and professional processes, and (c) some policies related to fee payment and
other financial considerations. It is hoped that students will use this opportunity at Sunway-
TES to maximise their potentials in and outside classes.
