1988-1989 -From The Start

It's the beg1nning of the end. As new faces timidly paraded the halls of Pans High School. veterans of the student body anxiously searched out friends and much m1ssed teachers. as well as lockers. classes. books, and homerooms. The enthusiasm of the new year flowed rapidly through the veins of both the students and faculty as the football season kicked-off accompanied by firedup spirit nights and pep rallies. With the end of football season came winter. a winter so mild that there were no snow days which meant a longer Chirstmas vacation!

1989. the year surged onward as the basketball season and try-outs for the senior play were initiated. There was a renewed and joyful attitude among the student body and the staff. Not long after second semester started. senioritis invaded the school in epidemic proportions. Not only were the seniors infected, but most of the underclass body as well . Report card after report card brought the year closer to an end. Soon spring sports were underway and honor banquets were scheduled. not to mention final exams. Finally, as if out of no where. Graduation Day was at hand coupled w1th the anticipation of summer vacation.

Renee Schietz Reigns As Homecoming Queen

Homecoming is a tradition held at Paris High School every year in the fall . Halftime of selected football games is an event anticipated by the queen candidates and court as well as family, students, and faculty .

Four senior homerooms selected their queen choice through secret ballet. The underclass princesses were chosen through the same process.

This year the Greyhounds massacred the newly-coached Berea team 53-6.

The 1987 queen, Stephanie Trosper accompanied by Paul Wagoner and Callie Elliott returned on October 14 to crown teary-eyed Miss Renee Schietz as our new queen. Renee was escorted by her father, Jim Schietz. Her mother, Carolyn, watched from the stands as Principal Homer Goins presented Renee with a gift and Mayor Doug Castle crowned her queen

''Reservations For Two'' A Night To Remember

The 1989 Junior-Senior Prom. "Reservations For Two". was a huge success credited to the selection of the elegant Spindletop Hall.

"Spindletop Hall was a beautiful location for our last prom. It made us feel special because it was at a different place - other than a hotel. It was more private -just for our prom," seniors Holly Ray and Blair Eads commented.

The Junior Class and their sponsors are lauded for the delightful evening.

Junior class President Scott King presides as master of ceremonies for the Grand March and the crowning of the king and queen while Miss Amy Robinson looks on.

present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the Fellowship of the Church," quoted Mr. Buchanan. It is an open club that welcomes any and all people as shown by the increase in membership this year.

Coaches Bellinger and Buchanan have arranged for guest speakers who have brought inspirational messages to the group. They have made FCA more interesting by not only having serious discussions but also providing recreation and having fun . Coach Buchanan has added an extra dimension to the group through his open-mindedness and willingness to help others.
