After establishing the starting point, they made a personal mission statement on who they want to become. They learned different techniques on how to achieve their mission statement such as making vision boards and practicing the art of aikido.

At the end of the workshop, the team drew up several action plans to achieve life balance. Actions plans to satisfy the mental aspect included no meetings after 4pm and attending an introductory workshop on stocks. Commitments to physical wellness included organizing zumba sessions and increasing water intake. For spiritual and community involvement, plans included attending First Friday Mass and participating in CSV activities.

1st Time in 10 Years

After 10 long years, Cabuyao Factory finally hit the beach again as employees and their families invaded the Stilts Resort in Calatagan, Batangas on May 5 for their summer affair. About 2,200 employees and their families joined the summer affair, making it one of the most attended

and biggest events of the Factory in recent years. Factory Manager Ernie Zamora happily

welcomed the huge throng of Cabuyao employees and their families to the event, which was also the first major employee affair he attended since joining the Factory.

Everyone enjoyed the fun and wholesome activities, specially the gwiyomi dance contest, which drew wide participation from the families. No one was left idle with an array of activities prepared for them— swimming, banana boat riding, snorkeling, munching on yummy home-made food, drinking merrily

amongst friends and family. The whole day also served to be a great team building experience for the entire Cabuyao family.

Site HR and SH&E teams ensured the safety and welfare of the employees days before the event and during the event itself.

The summer workshops for Cabuyao dependents ended on a high note, with two exciting events wrapping up the Dance, Musical Theater, and Arts and Creativity workshops.

The first event was a recital for the Dance and Musical Theater programs, which was held on May 25 at the Star Theater of Star City in Pasay, with over 200 employees and their families filling the seats. The morning part of the recital featured the 32 Cabuyao kids who completed the Dance workshop. They performed a non-stop dance number that had them moving and grooving to Michael Jackson’s timeless dance tunes and other upbeat music.

The afternoon show belonged to the 28 kids who took up the Musical Theater workshop, as they performed a theatrical adaptation of the movie Mulan. The young thespians impressed the audience with their singing and acting. They wore colorful costumes that blended well with the creative backdrops that adorned the stage.

The second event was an art exhibit held

The CBA for supervisors was formally signed on May 21 at the Acacia Hotel in Alabang, with WSEA President Marlon Cerillano leading the union panel and Plant HR Director Rolly Santos steering the Wyeth management team.

In similar fashion, the CBA for the Canlubang Factory’s associates union was completed after just four meetings, a remarkable improvement from the previous CBA negotiation where it took more than a year before an agreement was reached.

“Coming from previous CBA cycles wherein it took eight meetings before even just the ground rules could be set, this year’s CBA is indeed a remarkable milestone. This tremendous improvement is a testament to both parties— they went into the negotiations with the spirit of understanding, transparency, maturity and professionalism,” shared Rolly.

The formal signing took place on July 2, with Union President Rico Dimaano and Rolly Santos leading the proceedings. Wyeth Canlubang Factory Manager Jake Isidro welcomed the guests from Nestlé Philippines, which was led by Chairman and CEO John Miller, Business Transition Head Ernie Mascenon, Technical Director David Findlay, and HR Director Mitzie Antonio.

PURINA Petcare, in cooperation with Robinsons Supermarket, ran a promo called Give Every Dog and Cat a Chance promo from April 1 to 30 to increase awareness for the plight of the rescued cats and dogs housed in the Philippine Animal Rehabilitation Center (PARC). The promo also aimed to encourage pet owners to extend an extra bowl of pet food to the rescued animals. Selected SKUs were marked with a card featuring the story of a rescued dog or cat– the cruelty it experienced and how it was rescued and rehabilitated. For every three packs of these marked ALPO and FRISKIES sold at all Robinsons Supermarket branches nationwide, a pack was donated to Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), which manages PARC.

The promo received positive feedback from shoppers and from the animal welfare community. In fact, results showed a 46% increase in off-take of the participating SKUs at Robinsons Supermarket during the promo

period. These results showed pet owners being driven to purchase not just for their own pets’ consumption

but also to be able to help an animal in need. The promo culminated with a program held

at PARC on May 4, which featured a meet-and-greet session of all the parties involved. Representatives from Robinsons Supermarket,

the Nestlé Robinsons Key Accounts team, and

Nestlé Japan NCE Champion Benchmarks Lipa

Nestlé Merchandiser Rules MILO Marathon Palawan Leg

As the dawn broke in the city of Puerto Princesa on June 30, Norlan Warizal sprinted to the finish line to claim the title Champion of the 21K half-marathon of the 37th National MILO Marathon Puerto Princesa Leg. Clocking in at 1:17:59, Norlan was crowned as the 21K Half-Marathon Champion for the second straight year, improving on his 1:19:43 record in last year’s race.

Norlan is a side street merchandiser of NPI’s exclusive distributor partner in Palawan, Ferwin Gemy Distribution, Inc. His job, he said, is to “handle the products of Nestlé, make sure that they are in good order, and that they are displayed well in stores.”

Training hard for the Puerto Princesa Leg of the National MILO Marathon, Norlan made sure he ran every morning before reporting for work at 8:00 am. He also watched videos of Olympian and long distance runner Ryan Hall. He searched the internet for videos that helped him in his training and inspired him to be like his idol Hall.

Norlan said his experience as a Nestlé merchandiser has also helped him in winning the foot race. “In our job we have targets to achieve. If we don’t hit the target, we fail in our work. In running, I also set a target, which is to win the race,” he explained. “My training in Nestlé makes me work hard to achieve the goals I have set both in running and as a merchandiser.”

Norlan plans to compete for the first time in the National Finals of the 37th National MILO Marathon to be held on December 8 at the SM Mall of Asia representing Puerto Princesa City.
