Gulbarga, popularly called as “Kalaburagi”, was once a capital of theBahamani Kingdom. The famous dynasties of the south, the Satavahans, theChalukyas of Badami, the Rastrkuta, Shahis, the Adil Shahis, the Nizam Shahis haveruled over the district. The Bahamani rulers built Gulbarga City with Palaces,Mosques, Gumbazs, Bazars and other public buildings. The City is described as a“Garden of Gumbazs”
