About ITM IHM

Programs

In 2002, when we embarked on the journey to develop and deliver programs in Hospitality education at ITM Institute of Hotel Management, we realized that this endeavor would present immense challenges to the ITM Group.

There are literally thousands of Hospitality Schools in India, with little or no distinguishing factors between their program offerings. With the establishment of ITM Institute of Hotel Management, our challenge was to create an offering that would distinguish itself from the crowd and gain the acceptance of the industry as a school of choice for hospitality professionals.

Our founding collaborator, Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, UK has helped us to overcome that challenge. ITM IHM has imbibed the scholarly culture and world-class processes of QMU and has emerged as a true provider of ‘hospitality management’ education. We’ve built on our strong foundations as a top business school to deliver hospitality programs which provide a comprehensive blend of management know-how and technical skills to our students.

Through our association with QMU and other reputed universities around the world, our students have access to opportunities to study and work abroad, while those who choose to pursue their careers in India, find their training and qualification in high demand.

In 2006, ITM IHM received affiliation to the University of Mumbai to conduct the BSc. Hospitality Studies.

The University’s reputation as a centre of excellence is evident in the design and curriculum of this program and has been well-received by students and the industry.

On the auspicious occasion of the Diwali festival, ITM IHM conducted total of 26 activities for over 140 passengers over a spread of 2 days where varieties of laddoos and barfis were sampled by at the T2 Terminal Mumbai Airport. As the sweetness of laddoos, the scent of incense and the sparks of fire the students of ITM IHM engaged with the passengers going back to their families and expressed the reason to rejoice and hence, ITM took the initiative to celebrate it by organising a variety of fun activities. The event was managed by ITM Institute of Hotel Management Navi Mumbai campus. The main aim of the event was to encourage the festive warmth in the hearts of passengers waiting for their flights during the auspicious festival. Passengers were seen rejoicing this unique experience with the help of the sweetness of laddoos and Barfis provided by ITM IHM Navi Mumbai.

The exposure highlights the fun and folic on the occasion of Children’s Day. ITM IHM set up creative activities to encourage children and parents alike to make healthy food choices for a better tomorrow. The activities based on healthy salads, sandwiches and smoothies were enjoyed by adults and children alike. Over 800 passengers visited ITM IHM kiosk at the Mumbai Domestic T1 Airport. The students of ITM IHM interacted with the passengers and assisted them in preparing salads, sandwiches and smoothies. The main purpose of the event was to instill better eating habits among the young generation. Passengers were seen enjoying being part of the activities and were happy to take home a box of their own creation.

Melange - IHM Navi MumbaiShowcasing entrepreneurship ability, innovation and new venture creation are inevitable prerequisites for student to be globally competitive. It is a platform to help students to develop their skill and put them in to practise.

Elements - IHM Oshiwara (Mumbai)Challenge your creativity and experience the festival of Adventure. Students from different colleges participate in the event and enjoy all the competitions.

Theme LunchesThe theme lunches / dinners help prepare students for the environment of basic restaurant service. Students get to go through all of the roles of a restaurant including serving, preparation, sanitation and even management. It also applies enough pressure so student actually feel the stress that can go along with the mistakes and struggles of every day hotel life where you never know what could happen, yet keeps you safe in a learning environment.

HED Talk HED Talk is a platform where hoteliers, educators and developers come together to contribute their profound learning and experience of hospitality industry and share there valuable thoughts with students. HED Talk is talk show which is followed by a christmas lunch/dinner which would surely tantalize your senses with its offerings of festivity, celebration and palatable cuisine.

Santa SoireeAn evening that will host all the goodness of the holiday season; inclusive of roasted carved turkey, Christmas carols from every era, melodious live musical performance, and of course, the cute elves and their happy tap dance without which any Christmas is incomplete!

Fab-yule-us FiestaChristmas was just around the corner and ITM, IHM Oshiwara was going all out. A day full of fun, food and frolic was organized to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Stalls comprising of mouth watering delights, Christmas goodies and amusing games were set up on campus. The corridors were flooded with the melody of Christmas Carols. Professional Masterclasses were conducted by Chef Altamash Patel, Chef Kamlesh Salve and Chef Vineet Bhatia on Japanese, Indian and Festive delicacies. The exhibition and sale encouraged students to boast their organization and entrepreneurship skills.

Carpe DiemCarpe Diem - Annual Day event focuses on our achievements and is a good opportunity for exploiting the skills and exhibiting the talent of our students in academics, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities like sports, culture, literary, etc.

ITM IHM has an academic collaboration with Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, Scotland, to offer the BA HTM program. QMU was founded in 1834 as the Edinburgh School of Cookery, with the aim to create educational and career opportunities for women and to do something to address the problems of inadequate diet and under nourishment of the urban poor, QMU is something of a pioneer in the fields of Domestic Sciences, Nutrition and Hospitality.

The University of Mumbai (known earlier as University of Bombay) is one of the oldest and premier Universities in India. It was established in 1857 consequent upon “Wood’s Education Dispatch”, and it is one amongst the first three Universities in India. As a sequel to the change in the name of the city from Bombay to Mumbai, the name of the University has been changed from “University of Bombay” to “University of Mumbai”, vide notification issued by the Government of Maharashtra and published in the Government Gazette dated 4th September, 1996.
