GRADUATION FACTS
• Graduation is the completion of all academic
degree requirements.
• Commencement is the ceremony to honor students
who have graduated or will graduate soon.
• A final degree audit is conducted by the Registrar’s
Office after final grades are posted to determine if
graduation candidates have completed all degree
requirements to receive their degree award.
• Diplomas are mailed to graduates after degrees are
awarded and reflected on their official transcript

incorrect (i.e. Name, Addresses, Degree
Program, Major, Concentration, etc.)
• Check Student Account for Fees and
Balances
• Check your Unofficial Transcript and
DegreeWorks for any Incomplete or
Missing Grades (i.e. IP’s or I’s)
• Complete any Pending academic
processes (i.e. Change of Grade,
Substitution of Courses)
• Request a Final Degree Audit and
Graduation PIN
• Discuss Next Steps with your Faculty

• BANNER PAWS is an online system which enables
students, faculty, staff, and alumni to access a variety of
information via the Internet.
• PAWS is available 24 hours a day except designated or
announced blackout days.
• For assistance resetting your PAWS pin or password
follow instructions provided on JSU website

Unofficial Transcript in PAWS
Students can access your Unofficial Transcript in
JSU PAWS to review your degree
program/concentration, courses that you have taken,
course credits and grades you have earned.
DegreeWorks
• DegreeWorks is a web-based tool to help students,
academic advisors and faculty mentors monitor
progress toward degree completion.
• DegreeWorks contains JSU degree requirements and
courses attempted and earned by each student to
produce an audit worksheet that assists academic
advisors, faculty mentors and students in reviewing
past, present, and future academic coursework.
• You may access DegreeWorks through PAWS.
Academic Catalog/Academic Calendar
The JSU Academic Catalog provides comprehensive information about degree programs offered at the University and provides details about curriculum and degree requirements. It also serves as a reference for University policies and processes.
The JSU Academic Calendar serves as an informational resource for students, faculty and staff and captures critical dates related to the academic semester and year.
