UAV Laboratory-

1. (EMBEDDED DEVELOPMENT)Imagine cup 2009 to be held in Cairo, Egypt

Project- (1)Real time disaster management system using RF tags(Transponders) and RF reader

(Interrogator) for the human beings trapped in the natural disasters and to give awareness about

these disasters like ,tsunami, earthquakes(movement of tectonic plates),Tidal winds etc.

(2) Robotic arm

(3) Electronic eye for blind people using concept of Image processing

(4)Project based on primary education for remote areas of country based on the biometric

systems like palm geometry, hand geometry, thumb impression, iris, veins, DNA, face

recognition for authentication purposes.

Note- for the entire project E-BOX 4300 is being sent by Microsoft for embedded development

along with the Windows embedded CE FOR designing the OS (MANAGEMENT STATION)

and for developing various applications on the OS (Operating systems).

2. UAV Project organized by Korean Aerospace Industries Association (KAIA) Seoul, South

Korea for Microsoft USA to be held in Cairo, Egypt in the month of September 2009.

Project- UAV (Quad-rotor)

(a) Precision dropping (Dropping of object from the UAV at an altitude of 300 meters from

the ground surface, Object may also be further augmented by several other structures like

fur,feather,ribbon etc for its stability purposes.)

(b) High quality acquisition of images (noise filtering techniques and use of high resolution

CCD wireless cameras etc.) from the obstacle lying on the ground along the way points

using image processing.

(c) Estimate the coordinates (LLC COORDINATES AND GPS TIME) of the fire engine

surrounded by the rectangular block whose vertices coordinates are already specified

using image-processing techniques.

(d) Compute the estimated coordinates of distressed people in the sea by the side of the field

using the image processing principles to help them out.

Technology used- Pattern matching, object recognition using scale invariant Fourier transform

methods (SIFT).

(3) UAV organized by US Army at Georgia base field-

Project- UAV which supports various image processing based navigation and obstacle avoidance

inside the room to be held this year in the month of June at Georgia Institute of Technology.

Technology used- Vision based navigation and Kalman filtering for noise suppression on the

sensory inputs like gyroscopes, accelerometers, GPS coordinates (IMU)

(4) Project accepted on electronic eye in the National level competition organized by Vector

India Hyderabad.

DRDO Project-2010:

Guided DRDO Project on Unmanned Ground Vehicle for which grant of Rupees 1 lakh was

given to me for carrying out research work.

Developed ROBOT for different conditions mentioned below:

1.Gravel terrain,corrugations,stair climbing etc.

2. Lane detection using Image Processing.

3. GPS Navigation.

4. Obstacle avoidance

Comprehensive report on Autonomous Ground Reconnaissance system was handed over to

CVRDE (Chennai) for final selection of robot under my guidance on 27 october 2011 and we

were invited to CVRDE for final demonstration of the robot designed.

Cadence –Nasscom Project:

Guiding 2 Cadence Design company projects-

1. Software Defined Radio Implementation on CSDK DSP development board.

This project focuses on the design and implementation of a digital software radio. Digital

signal processing (DSP) is used to implement the transmitter and receiver. This allow for greater

flexibility and accuracy when designing the radio. The project is ascaled down version of the

IEEE 802.11a standard that uses QAM (QuadratureAmplitude Modulation) with OFDM

(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) tocreate the coding and modulation scheme. The

project also focuses on rapid developmentand prototyping by using Simulink block diagrams to

program the Texas InstrumentsTMDSK6713 evaluation board.

One Project on ICT in Agriculture is to be submitted for grant of rupees 20 lacs from DST under

Technology systems development programme.
